I love Vesuvius sandwiches and pizza! However, make sure to check that your order is what you ordered. I’ve gone home twice only to find that my order was someone else’s. View all feedback.
What 1Dave K (5 2 years ago on Google doesn't like about Cafe Vesuvius Marblehead:
Not sure what I did, I was simply picking up a couple of pizzas. The person working the counter asked me if people shop anywhere else is town. i thought she was joking, so i laughed. She then turned to me and said, No, that is a serious question I responded that perhaps they are busier now that Romanos has closed. She said to me, can 't people go to Dominos or out of town? The food here is really good. The service is always good. My complaints are 1. The Order Online link on the website leads you to OrderSnap, a service that sells Online Ordering. So... I went elsewhere that night. . 2. The printed and online menu say an Item is $10.50 but is really $13.97 a huge mark up. I was told it was out 'outdated '.How is the print AND online menu outdated? Why would I pay close to $4 more? I could buy all the ingredients at Crosbys and make five sandwiches for that. LOL So... I went home. Don’t tell me the menu in my hand ‘is ‘outdated.’ It’s time for theses places to stop saying ‘everything has gone up, man’ and find creative solutions. Invention is born out of necessity. This is the time excuses are over and where true business acumen will prevail. Simply raising prices is not a solution
Pizza was way overcooked. Like close to inedible. Probably would be if I wasn't so hungry. Seriously lacking in the ricotta department. Called over 40min in advance on a Monday and had to wait for a burnt pizza. Usually much better pizza with decent servings of all additional toppings. Not tonight. I'm disappointed.
One star for today only. I usually love the food, and up until today have never had a complaint. Unfortunately I tried something new. Today, a chicken salad with tomato and onion on a sub. Tooooo much mayonnaise, enough to make the chicken second banana! I Couldn't eat it. Mayo should not be the predominat food in a salad. I'll be back , but not for chicken salad!
Really bland pizza. It's not exactly bad tasting, it just doesn't taste like anything. The sauce is the dominant flavor, it's mediocre and unevenly applied. The dough is cheap and unremarkable. The real weakness is the cheese, it's thinly applied, and utterly without flavor, this completely ruins the pizza. The final kicker was the Cannoli I got for my wife, the packaging (which I couldn't see before ordering it) indicates it was packaged 3 days ago, and as one would expect with 3 day old pastry, it's stale. Total waste of money. Just moved to Marblehead, was hoping to find a local pizza joint but it looks like I'm gonna have to keep going to VOLO pizza in Swampscott.
