Highclere Fish And Chips Cafe

I've come here for a few years now, since its nearby for me. Very recently they added a $2 fee for dining in and I feel this is something important to bring up if you choose to dine in here. The chip portions have been getting smaller recently as well, as well as having times during the day where they flat out refuse to cook them for no reason. All in all the new manager is much more stingy than the previous ones. Also connection here is poor. Sorry for the blurry picture my camera sucks.

Very happy with new owners. They are lovely people. Delicious Vietnamese noodle soups. So pleased.

Decided to sit in the other day so updating this review. The strange man behind the counter was staring at me and my three kids like his life depended on it, it made me feel so creeped out I asked him if he was ok to which he replied ' I 'm making sure your kids don 't make a mess '!! We were just sat talking waiting for the food!!! My eldest daughter is 9 and loves chilli so she was pleased to see that there was crushed chilli along with other sauces on the table. She got one very small spoon size and put it on the chip paper next to her pile of chips so she could dip her chips into it. The strange man behind the counter came out screaming at her that she is not to touch this and that the chilli is only meant for a certain dish in his restaurant!!! My daughter looked very tearful and I told the man to not speak to my daughter like that over nothing! He walked off muttering something in his own language. A month ago we had a take out from here. The chip shop workers had just thrown the cold drinks in with the food! Chips were slightly warm when we ate them . Way too much salt on the chips. Mean portion sizes, I paid an extra $2 for a medium and it looked like a small. The sausages we ordered were just thrown in and I had to taste which ones were chilli and which were cheese! Just very bad! No care taken at all! It was enough that the strange creepy man, who had gotten a hot head over chilli for us not to come back! I have never been starred at like that before anywhere and my children had not gotten any food Infront of them to make a mess with yet! Someone needs to tell this strange man that when U own a restaurant and children come in, then there probably will be some mess afterwards and this is very normal! I will not order from here again I paid $44 for this!!! I 'm very disappointed!

I don't know the proper names but I love the soups.Next time I'll take some photos.Yumny dirty chai with those white buns filled.My quick fix.Yes, yes, the fish and chips are big too, enough to share with the kids and their friends.Clean, friendly and great price.

The service is friendly, and you can hear the staff laughing behind the counter, creating a cheerful atmosphere. The menu is small but impressive, and I felt confident about the safety and quality of the food. The place was spotless, and there is plenty of parking available.
