You can tell the workers hate their job. The food was pretty good and the bartender was very nice. It took me about 20 minutes before we even got our avocado fries. The manager Gissella was very very rude to one of her employees and she had a very bad attitude. She seemed as though she enjoyed watching her employees struggle.

While the service wasn’t stellar overall, I have to give credit where it’s due. Our waiter was very nice, always smiling, personable, and made us feel welcome. When the bar accidentally doubled our cocktail order, he brought us the second round on the house, which was a nice touch. The food was quite good overall. There was one dish I wasn't enthusiastic about, but I’d rate the food a 4/5 overall. I loved the avocado fries with the spicy mayo dipping sauce—the portion was generous and the flavor was delicious. The pepper salad was also better than most; the pesto dressing and the freshness of the greens made it perfect. Now let’s talk about the downsides—given that this is a restaurant in a prime location, I expected much better service. Once we received our appetizers, the service became quite slow. Many lower ratings mentioned the same issue; the service seemed incredibly understaffed. I understand it’s the holiday season, so I suppose they might have had employees on leave, but one would think restaurants would ramp up staffing during their busiest months, especially at such a prominent place. What should have been a quick cocktail and appetizer meal turned into an almost two-hour dinner. It took nearly an hour before we received our soup and salad, which was pretty absurd. As I mentioned, our waiter was nice, but it was difficult to get his attention to check on our meal status and ask for the bill. We ended up having to flag down someone to get the check, which never feels good, especially when you’re paying top dollar. I would also recommend avoiding the Charro bean soup. It was quite misleading—when I read “soup,” I expected beans and Andouille sausage, but what I received was just broth. It was so unexpected that I thought I had been served the wrong dish. When I asked about it, the waiter informed me that the broth is simply seasoned with beans and sausage. This was very strange and confusing on the menu. I would have described it as more of a Menudo broth, lacking all the good ingredients. For $18, that was a letdown. All in all, I loved the cocktails and the cozy, romantic atmosphere. The prickly pear margarita was perfection, and it’s a great place for a date night. However, they really need to improve their service and the timing of the dishes; waiting two hours for the minimum flavors we ordered is excessive.
