The Bread Stand - Maplewood
The Bread Stand
Description
Nestled in a surprising neighborhood, this charming bakery-café earns praise for outstanding croissants, remarkable bread and daily-baked pastries paired with strong coffee and warm, friendly service. Rustic decor, ample indoor and window seating, reasonable prices and convenient parking make it ideal for breakfast, sandwiches and casual lunches. Expect fresh aromas at opening; note occasional inconsistency in some pastries and milk-forward lattes, and an early cutoff for the lunch menu.

I absolutely love this bakery! The croissants are outstanding: freshly baked every morning, they make for wonderful sandwiches, especially when paired with chocolate or enjoyed alongside a hot coffee. The bread is also excellent; I always make sure to grab a loaf during every visit!
I absolutely adore this place! It's a charming little spot located in the most unexpected part of the city. The rustic decor and welcoming staff create a lovely atmosphere. I loved what I ordered, and the coffee is fantastic as well. I tried the ice cream with oat milk, and it was delicious. My friends and I are definitely planning to return for more pastries!
This restaurant offers amazing food and coffee. I ordered the organic avocado sandwich, which came with a side of green olives, and it was absolutely delicious! The iced latte was also smooth and flavorful. I can't wait to try more items from the menu. My only complaint is that they close at 2:30 PM, which seems quite early. On my first visit, I was turned away because they had stopped serving their lunch menu, which is a major part of their business, even though they used to be open until 4 PM at their previous location. It doesn't seem logical to stop serving lunch so early when the restaurant remains open for other items.
After looking into it further, prompted by the owner's response, I found out that Arturo's in downtown is closing but will be reopening at a new location on 15 Newark Way, where the new Bread Stand will also be. On Google Maps, it's listed as "Artie's" and still features photos of the old location, but they are indeed relocating. This is fantastic news! Their pain au chocolat is incredible, and I can't wait for them to open in their new spot!
