Amazing hospitality and good food. Fried chicken is juicy and perfectly fried and crispy. Mac and cheese were also delicious and so was the topped greens and yams! The maize bread is the best maize bread I've ever had. Give this place a total of 20 out of 10!!
We came to a whim and loved the food! The order on the kiosk was so easy. The portions were generous and the food was so delicious. The staff here treated you like family, and Tiffany took care of us. Thanks, Cornbread. We're coming back!
Before I give my honest review, I would like to let you know that this review shows Bias. Our culinary experience was not complete 5 stars. (more than 4.5) I give them 5 stars because I appreciate their hard work and determination to keep this restaurant afloat. It wasn't easy to find a soul food spot worthy enough to immerse. I needed a place to make my mother legal for my birthday. We're not from NJ, we were here. Thanks to other reviews, reviews and pictures, I knew this would be our best option. When I started, my family and I were greeted by Cornbread's team. It felt inviting. It was our first visit. An employee said we had to order our food first and then find seats in the dining area. (Foods are brought to us) We ordered 4 meals and drinks (non-alcoholic). It's $89. My son, mother in law, and I enjoyed our dishes. Unfortunately, my wife's taste buds were not satisfied. Kim ordered the Turkish wings, Mac Cheese and Collard Greens (the latter have forgotten to deliver to the table). One thing I respect at this restaurant is the fact that they are ready to correct their mistakes. They offered my wife another court free of charge. My mother in the law felt that the sweet tea was not so sweet. In return, the staff offered her the opportunity to try her "Southern Twang drink". She enjoyed it. As for my son and I, our taste buds enjoyed the spices on the fried chicken and Whiting fish. I would recommend Cornbread Maplewood for friends, family and those who believe in supporting black companies.
