people like to joke about LJS but honestly its not that bad. it used to be way better tho, waaay better. when they first opened this was 5 star all day. they used to put the food over a bed of fried batter bits to mimic authentic fish&chip baskets, but not anymore. the portion sizes and quality has def taken a hit. its worth trying only because this chain will likely close one day and there aren't many others near it... This Taco Bell typically gets most requests and customizations done correctly that every once in awhile screws up depending on whether or not they have new staff I imagine. Typically something small like forgetting to remove tomatoes upon request or something.A whole hell of a lot cheaper to order directly from Taco Bell and pick it up yourself than it is to use DoorDash or GrubHub.If you don't know what you want just get a cravings box and enjoy a cheap meal.I can't really say anything about the Long John silver's side of this though since I don't usually eat those items. I can say that none of the Taco Bell food items that I order really taste polluted or anything by the fish items also served here.Kid-friendliness: Not really much in the way kid friendly environment other than shoving tacos in their face but there is an ice cream place within eye shot to bribe them with if you need to calm them down and burritos isn't doing it?
If I could give no stars, I would. We went in to the counter and stood there being ignored. When we asked if we could be waited on, we were told we were rude. We went elsewhere to eat.
We grew up in West Texas, where fast food restaurants were few and far between. Long John Silvers was one of those special places we could enjoy in those rare times we went to town to buy groceries. It was truly a treat when I was a kid! And we've cherished LJS for the rest of our lives. When we stumble across one, we try to fit it into our meal plan for the day. When I saw there was a Taco Bell along Johns combo restaurant within 20 miles, we eagerly diverted and made a special trip. But, we left disappointed. We always order the same meal: 2 piece fish and fries. The quality of the food was there, but the fish tasted like it was fried in old oil, which gave it a stale flavor. We ate, but we were disappointed to find a rare gem and discover that it was unappreciated and neglected. I seriously doubt they always cook in stale oil, but they certainly did that day. If given the opportunity, I'll go back and give them a second chance. Fingers crossed! #todaysdiscovery #traviswinman
I ordered the fish shrimp platter and shared it with my best friend. You get 2 large pieces of fish, 6 shrimp, hush puppies and coleslaw. This was a large amount of food, plenty for 2 people. The shrimp, puppies slaw were delicious. The fish tasted oil soaked like it wasn't fried at the right temp.
They used to have food with flavor but our last visit the food taste like it was fried in old oil or a plastic utensil melt in the oil and the food was actually cold for being prepared while you wait.
