Was User at The Haywain a mag?
We had breakfast here today, and it's officially become a regular spot for us. The atmosphere is perfect for lingering and chatting without feeling rushed. I ordered the veggie breakfast, which included feta waffles, eggs, fresh plums (not artificially colored), mushrooms, and beans, all accompanied by a large pot of tea that was refilled for free. My friend had a bacon sandwich made with thick, nutty brown bread, re... View all feedback.
What Tania B dislikes about The Haywain:
We came for a celebration on short notice. I called ahead to ask about allergies and they were most accomodating, when we arrived they had marked a menu with what was safe to eat and changes that could be made. Unfortunately 2 of the mains were not very good but when we told the staff they were really lovely and rectified the problem explaining it was a new menu and thanked us for the feedback. Overall even with a sl... View all feedback.

During these troubled times recognition for an enjoyable experience can only be beneficial to the proprietors and staff of that particular establishment , thus this review .After so much time not being able to dine out due to government restrictions our first meal had to be The Haywain, as we used this place on many occasions in the past with satisfaction .We didn't really know what to expect but all our concerns were put to rest on entering. Hand sanitizer at entrance and a one way system in operation. Shown to our table which had be individually shielded. Waitress service only. A personal details form had to be filled in ,phone , e-mail address , time of entering , time of departure. The amount of tables had been dramatically been trimmed down in the restaurant side but the function hall was in use if needed.Nice to see some recognizable faces back to work that we knew from before the virus struck. Plus the new young lady who served us , only her second day and had the makings of a good waitress , obliging , courteous and efficient.Starters , main and desert were enjoyable . Slow cooked brisket with all the trimmings was lovely. Option of one , two or three courses. Nice to see the correct glasses being used to match the drinks . So all in all an enjoyable experience . We will definitely return and hope the business picks up, as this place deserves success for all the hard work they put in.
We read in the local news magazine that the Haywain did a ‘Flatiron Friday’ deal a flat/iron steak (is that an American cut of steak ? and a glass of wine for £10. We had to try it. It was really superb! The steaks were wonderful, and served with mushrooms, salad and a choice of chips or sautéed potatoes. Make sure to ask for the tarragon mayo it’s really lovely. The normal
Wonderful Sunday dinner. My husband had pork belly starter I had the mackerel pate. Both dishes very tasty. My husband then had roast lamb I had the beef brisket. Absolutely delicious we really could not fault it very generous portions and excellent value for money. Very good range of wines, beers and ales. We will definitely return. Thankyou
We moved to Mistley recently and have tried most places around here for a decent roast. Some where good, some were OK and some were rubbish. This place comes out on top. Best roast dinner for miles. We have had the starters and they are excellent. But as we havent got past the roast dinners yet, we cant really comment on the rest of the menu. Third visit today and still excellent. Thank you.

We went here for a family birthday meal yesterday. Our table of 11 was in a lovely separate area which made it feel more special and intimate. The food was absolutely delicious, in particular the Sunday roast Good GF options for Coeliac. Great service. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.
We have been to The Haywain numerous times, usually for an event evening and have never been anything but extremely impressed. The food at last night's bbq evening was absolutely delicious. I don't think we will be able to go back to an at home bangers and burger bbq again!! The staff are always friendly and happy to help. Every visit leaves us wanting to come back
