Excellent service. Very friendly and competent. Even under stress, everything was always no problem. The food was very good. Simply delicious and highly recommended.

So, let's put it this way: good service, good location, nice place, but definitely geared towards speed and quantity. The food wasn't bad, but I don't think I'd go back. Everything was relatively bland, the blackout was very tasteless, and the dumplings certainly weren't homemade. What bothered me most was the sauce for the roulade. It thickened completely after two minutes. Way too much starch. Fine for a quick bite, but not so much for a leisurely meal.

Hello. I can only review the restaurant. We were in Mannheim on a whim. We were doing some nice shopping and met a friendly salesman. He recommended this restaurant and then took us there. We received a very warm welcome. We got a table without a reservation, although it was time-limited, but that wasn't a problem. The drinks arrived very quickly. The food was excellent. The service was very friendly. What more could you ask for? Thank you for a lovely evening.

Restaurant Highly recommended! However, the grilled pork loin was inedible this time. The meat was almost impossible to cut, let alone chew. The fries were also very sparsely distributed on the plate. Of course, the request for an extra dollop of herb butter was charged extra at the end. Is it acceptable—a good average—to be disappointed twice out of five visits?

Awesome service from our server and the food was outstanding. I can't wait until my next trip to Mannheim so I can visit here again.

The customer service was great, the interior looks really old and cool... However, the the schnitzel was a bit on the salty end. The place was packed with people on a Saturday evening, and, for a good reason. Overall I recommend this restaurant to all looking for a German dining experience.

This place was a delightful surprise, because it is surrounded by modern, shops, and many global chain stores. This restaurant stood out, because the menu had many choices of things we wanted to eat, as well has having the classic restaurant feel. We were impressed at the food, happy atmosphere and friendly service. I look forward to going back here again and again.

Went to this place after first going to another spot, where I sat at very uncomfortable bar stools and just left. On that note, the bar stools are very comfortable here. The service was very friendly, as were the guests sitting near me. Had great conversations and learned a lot. The food, the reason most people will come here, really good. I had the pork shnitzel stuffed with feta and peppers. How can you go wrong? You cannot. The fries were equally as good. Wine. So, as a tourist, I am shocked when I see the costs of soda and wine the same at a water. The first glass of dry Riesling was nice, but a bit too dry. The next semi-dry Riesling was perfect. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. Oh, they have an English menu if you ask.

Last night I noticed that I still had photos of the last 5 visits in the old Simpl on my phone. After reviewing the last criticism here at GG of my smallness, it takes a small update from my site, I try to write the last 3 4 visits to an update review. Here you are greeted at the door and brought to the table. These are standards in Alten Simpl, also known from Greek restaurants. The two gentlemen in service are always very nice and attentive, my wife thinks that she knew when she went to the Mannheimer Lokale about 30 years ago with her grandmother. The guys always have a funny magic and work professional, even in strong operation. They are made by the black-haired good-looking operation (formerly in the roof garden), she understands her craftsmanship, likewise always makes funny sayings and gives the guest the most important feeling to be simply welcome. Apparently, everything is very good here. The restaurant was, as mentioned above (among other things many hotel guests) almost completely full of all three visits, certainly the new atmosphere also plays an important role. All cozy, with campfires on the LCD, small niches, but also very comfortable places on the counter – which are also very widespread Last summer, the old Simpl General renovated, many old wood had to go out, and the sanitary facilities were finally planted. Also the diligently somewhat bright lights over the tables had to soften modern light bulbs (where one can see such an illuminated wire above). We are sitting outside today, under big oaks and watching the drift in the squares. I order a thirst of beer first. The 0.4 yeast (3,20) went down with a big swallow. Man, I got a train on it. What speaks for the old Simpl is and was also confirmed by the esteemed critics Turbo, Peperoni: there are many different beers, all from the barrel. The second was a dark yeast, the third, then the beer of the devil with a light smoke note. The Americans 350 grams of Entrecote (18,90) laughed at me from the daily ticket, but it should be a classic in the old Simpel. My wife prefers our reference Peperoni in Mannheim, after which she should be the Schlemmer Hawai Steak and Croquettes. Peperoni then bathed in oil and vinegar and tasted excellent to make a dream the slightly baked white bread then in the vinegar oil puff. They were able to get red stars, all very well spiced and hearty. After the appetizer came my brew steak or the two steaks, brew steak there probably meant the cook good, I almost not the part. Praise also came for the Hawaii Steak, the Smurf Steak the meat juicy, top cooks, pineapples and cheese. The croquettes looked like the famous fist. During the penultimate visit I had a pipe on a juicy pig's neck steak. The beer brewing plate was again best suited for the pleasure of satisfaction in my opinion. juicy meat, beer roast steak II roasted bacon, garrison onions and croquettes. My better half had favored the salmon from the grill from the daily ticket to Rahm Spinat Tagliatelle. Both dishes were able to convince. Not least the last visit. Here I ordered the peat plate with soap, sausage, liver dumplings (12,90). Class Peel Plate My wife chose a large part of field salad with potato dress and mushrooms from the grill (no photo). The field salad tasted tasty, because the dressing was often warm, scary and potatoes, excellent for the field salad and fried mushrooms from the grill. Conclusion: The Old Simpl combines, Palatinate, German and Croatian cuisine perfectly!

Espectacular German food and beer. We followed the indications of Nico, one of the waiters, and we had a really nice experience. He selected all the beers for me and explained the food really well.

Excellent food. The best German food I ever had. I give it only 4 stars because it is a bit expensive and portions are not very big. Beer it's good too. Spätzle was amazing. We also took the farmers platter. Meat was succulent. I recommended it. Very fresh. Quick service.

The food portion was quite large and delicious!! We went to the restaurant on Sunday and it was open. Unfortunately we didn't order beer. The restaurant seems to have history and good mood!! Recommend!

The food is always delicious here. The staff was very accommodating. The outdoor seating was full and I had to sit at the end of the bar. Still all good. The atmosphere was very light and mixed (afterwork get-togethers and diner dates). The Cordon Bleu portion was above average. Bratkartoffel: excellent. I would, in retrospect, order a bratensoße extra. But, all in all; I will be back. Top quality (if you're willing to spend a little cash).
