Old Chicago Pizza Taproom - Manhattan
Old Chicago Pizza Taproom
Description
Old Chicago’s local outpost blends lively sports-bar energy with a solid pizza-and-beer focus, making it a popular pre-game and casual dining choice. Service is generally friendly and occasionally exceptional, though seating and wait management can be inconsistent; kitchen hits vary—pizza and garlic bread impress, while some pasta dishes and portioning feel overpriced or underwhelming. Pet-friendly patio, plentiful TVs and rotating beers add to the appeal; dress it down and bring friends for a spirited, neighborhood night out.

The food is delicious, but I wish they would provide a larger portion of tenders given the price. They disappear within minutes!
The cheesy garlic bread was quite good and was served with marinara sauce. However, the chicken carbonara lacked flavor, and the sauce was a bit watery. I had to add my own cheese and pepper to improve it.
I usually love Old Chicago, but my food arrived looking like someone had already eaten some of it. Whether this is due to poor shipment, or poor packing I do not know. Either way, it is not okay.
The pasta was decent, but it felt overpriced for what it was. The pizza looked acceptable and tasted fine, but again, it was a bit pricey given the portion size.
This is always a fantastic local spot for pizza, with an excellent selection of beers. It's great to have a waiter and bartender who remember your preferences and genuinely want you to have the best experience possible. Although I'm usually not a fan of thin crust, I really enjoy the Tavern thin crust here. Thanks again to Alex Patrick for your outstanding service!
