Bulls Head - Manchester
Bulls Head
Description
Nestled conveniently across from Piccadilly Station, the Bull's Head is a pub-style accommodation ideal for quick stays in Manchester. Guests appreciate its friendly staff, clean and modern rooms, and comfortable beds. Although breakfast is a take-out buffet without dining space, the substantial offerings and fresh options receive positive remarks. The location is praised for easy access to transport and attractions, though some mentioned noise issues from the busy surroundings. While it may not be suitable for longer stays due to limited amenities, its affordability and welcoming atmosphere make it a decent choice for short visits.

I was in Manchester for a Ross Noble show at the 02 Apollo and needed an overnight stay in the area. The Bull's Head seemed to be a good choice. It is conveniently located right across from Piccadilly Station, a 10-minute walk from the Arndale Centre, and about 15 minutes from the Apollo. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed a drink in the traditional bar downstairs before the show. The room we got was a twin instead of a double, which was slightly disappointing. The room was decent, with a small ensuite bathroom with a good shower, but it was missing a plug for the washbasin. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room as well. However, if you are staying longer than a night or two, you may find the lack of hanging space for clothes to be a problem. Our overnight stay wasn't great as we had trouble sleeping due to outside lights, traffic and train noise, and an annoying emergency light casting a green glow on everything. The pillows were a bit lumpy as well. Breakfast was a buffet style with toast, cereal, croissants, tea, and coffee, which you have to take to your room. Unfortunately, there was no space to eat it other than on the bed, which was not ideal. Overall, if you are looking for a cheap and friendly overnight stay in a convenient location, the Bull's Head would be a decent choice, but don't expect anything extraordinary. You get what you pay for.
I was a bit hesitant at first because it's a pub B&B, but as soon as we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome from the friendly lady at the bar who checked us in. There are only a few rooms, but ours was perfect for a quick overnight stay before our flight on holiday. Despite being right next to Piccadilly station, it was surprisingly quiet and easy to access. There were a few stairs to climb with our heavy luggage, but it was manageable with only two flights. We didn't have a chance to try the included breakfast as we needed to leave early for our flight, but it looked great. This place is a hidden gem with a great price compared to airport hotels, and it's only 3 minutes from the station and about 10 minutes from the airport.
A hidden gem we discovered while visiting Manchester. The three lads from Donegal will definitely return. The service was fantastic - friendly and efficient!
Very friendly staff. Had the fantastic homemade curry and a nice pint. Great traditional pub near Piccadilly Station.
