Description

In the vibrant culinary landscape of Virginia, this Caribbean restaurant elicits mixed feelings among patrons. While some dishes, like oxtail and macaroni pie, earn rave reviews for their flavor and tenderness, others have not met expectations due to issues such as overcooked pasta and underseasoned proteins. Price point concerns have surfaced, particularly regarding the self-service buffet, which patrons feel is not worth the cost. Despite the occasional misfire, dedicated staff and delicious coconut bread hint at potential. Overall, guests express a mix of disappointment and gratitude, with hopes for more consistent quality on future visits.

I only have it 3 stars because of the beef patties and coco bread. This place went downhill fast. I ordered oxtail and got one fatty piece of meat. The fried plantains look and tasted boiled. I asked for white meat for the jerk chicken and got 2 legs.C?mon, guys, as a Guyanese, I was happy when I saw a West Indian place in Virginia. Looks like I still have to trek to Marylandto get decent food.

I don't understand some of the reviews. Some people are complaining about the cost but Wegmans has a buffet that's $14.99 pretty pound for subpar food. The other complaints are about the food not having any flavor and that is far from the truth. Theowner takes pride in his food and ingredients. He had come out and given a full description of his food and how he grew up init. I've gone here twice and plan on making more trips. When you find good authentic flavors, you have keep going back formore.

Buffet pricing is a bit steep. Came in for a quick lunch, but wasn't expecting the bill to be north of $20. See photo. Food was good and spicy. Had the place to myself at 11am.

The meal in the photo was $22 dollars... This place has good food, but at almost $11/pound for the self serve buffet, you will want to avoid coming at dinner time. Absolutely not worth the price. The lunch combos however, looked way more reasonable. Imight come back because the oxtail was well seasoned and tender, and all the other sides were tasty. I just can 't get over howlittle food you get for $20.
