First time coming here, had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. Probably the best I've ever had. Chicken was cooked to perfection, perfect combo of taste. I need to try them all now. But it's gonna be hard to beat that fried chicken sammy View all feedback.
What Zackary Downing doesn't like about Crumby Sandwich Spirits:
The hours are very inconsistent. I've only been able to eat here once out of a handful of times stopping by during posted open hours. I had the spicy chicken sandwich, which was delicious! Definitely the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. I walked in and ordered to-go. Service was quick, although this seems to be variable based on other reviews. The lack of consistency here is really unfortunate. The vibe and food i... View all feedback.
The good: Ambiance was trendy/chic and music was nice. Cost wasn't too bad, decently priced. The bad: came in after the lunch rush mid afternoon and the place was empty. Normally would be a good thing but tables still had dirty dishes and the manager or owner was talking to someone. Had to wait a few minutes to be acknowledged and then sat between dirty tables. Proceeded to put in a quick order since there menu was relatively short and they were sold out of a few items. Asked for my sandwich and a water. Manager/waitress went back to put in the order and totally forgot about me. An employee came in for a quick visit and she ended up chatting with him for most of my time there. Food finally came out and she acknowledged she forgot my water. Ordered the Steak sandwich and the steak was tasty but luke warm and very soggy. Sandwich just fell apart as I started eating. Finished my food and had been sitting for a few minutes of the manager looking around and talking to her staff from the kitchen (could hear her from the front). Finally got her attention for the bill and asked for water again. Got my water but the bill was forgotten. Took another couple reminders between conversations. Tried to say it was internet issues the look on her face said she forgot. Overall poor service, expected better being the only customer in the place. Will not be back.
I had kind of a strange experience here, but the octopus sandwich I ordered was delicious, which is why I'm giving a 4. My partner and I came here for dinner and ordered the mushroom melt and octopus sandwiches. We also asked about the burger since the menu said there's a weekly rotating burger, but the waitress seemed to have no clue there was even a burger on the menu. My octopus sandwich was really delicious. There were huge chunks of octopus that were super tender and not chewy at all. They did forget the chorizo, so the waitress brought out the chorizo separately, which wasn't a big deal to me. The mushroom melt was an interesting experience. My partner started eating it and was like WOW this is really spicy?? I didn't remember the menu saying anything was spicy on the sandwich and honestly thought he was overreacting a little, but I also tried it and it was insanely spicy. We can both eat a decent amount of spice, but I literally couldn't finish the sandwich because it was just not enjoyable and the spice just killed the rest of the flavor. We didn't say anything because we just figured that's how the sandwich was supposed to be, but after we left, we took a look at the menu again, and I think they may have accidentally put the spicy habanero sauce instead of the sun dried tomato aioli. Also, when my partner went to the restroom, he heard someone screaming and swearing in the kitchen to someone else about leaving the waitress in the dining room alone. Not sure what that was about, but it did not make us feel great about eating there and how the staff are treated!
Crumby is a cute sandwich joint in Fremont that's super accessible by bus or on foot. Food: I got the veggie mushroom melt and it was an incredibly unique sandwich with mushroom, havarti, apples, and aioli. The menu seems like it frequently changes so I'd be excited to see what other combos they have. The sandwich was a tad on the greasy side but fat=flavor so I can't complain lol Ambiance: the exterior and interior of the restaurant are super cute. They were playing early 2000s bops (Brittany Spears, Greenday, etc) which wasn't exactly the vibe I was expecting but it was kind of fun. They have a nat issue near the bar, but I don't hold that against them, I think it was just one of the plants they had. Service: I commend the servers for working so hard, I think they were understaffed but they were kind and attentive. It took a while to get my food but it wasn't anything crazy. And they seems to be getting drinks out super fast. Overall I'd definitely return with some friends to try next seasons veggie sandwich!
So great. Had a lunch there and the place was very busy. Staff treated us so well. The food was amazing and we loved all of it.
I can easily say this is the worst dining experience I have ever had in Seattle. Came on a Sunday after hiking with two friends without looking at reviews and just seeing the cute exterior. We were seated immediately and the menu looked amazing so we were excited to order. Our waitress was a bit checked out but we still really did not mind, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and my friends ordered the Salumi and Vegan. There were only two other tables dining, so after 45 minutes we started wondering where our food was. We could tell another waitress noticed because after an HOUR she came to our table and let us know our food was on its way. When our food finally did arrive, we quickly scarfed it down and when we asked for napkins our own waitress looked bothered by our request before bringing us a WAD of paper towels from the bathroom instead of the napkins we had before. Not a huge deal but her attitude was what really got to us. To top it all off, as my friend got up from the seat the plastic from the chair came off and stuck to her instead! She literally had to scrape it off her legs with her finger nails and when we told our waitress her response was simply Yeah the humidity is crazy , with no apology. I have never been so frustrated with a dining experience, and cannot imagine how a business operates like this.
