What Autumn Busayo doesn't like about Café Habana:
As a Black woman, I waited at the front for a little while before being seated. I requested to sit outside, and the staff member at the door told me to take a seat. However, I was not given water or a menu. A few minutes later, a white woman came in, and she was immediately greeted, seated, and provided with a menu while I was left waiting without assistance. Stopped by for lunch when we were spending a day in Malibu. Pleasant outdoor seating area. Calamari was good. Tacos were ok. Service was friendly, but no sense of urgency. Visiting from Chicago, sometimes we have to adjust our expectations of good food and service. Maybe good for Malibu, overall decent.
Food was great !!! But our server Israel was more attentive to the other guests we never got chips and salsa while waiting for our food, I had to ask for them but we never got them. he never asked if we were doing ok I was waiting for him to ask for a refill but he never did he was so busy with the other table, he make us feel uncomfortable and it was a discriminatory situation, he was clearly more attentive to white people.
Been wanting to try them out for the longest but unfortunately not much of a vibe if any. Staff seemed checked out and not happy to be there as well. Dark lit with low energy team has lots of potential for some good tunes and a fun after dinner vibe. Some live music and or a DJ on weekends would be sweet! Malibu needs some more energy!
Food was ok the portions were good, nice and good location, service was good but one of the young waiters can’t even say you’re welcome. THEY DO NOT TAKE CASH !!!! thanks good almost every one has a card now. I think they should change that
GET THE CUBANO!!! So good. Will make the 45 min drive to get that sandwich again, for sure!
