They have changed ownership recently and very much upped their game. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. But what's improved the most is service, there seems to have been a real effort to improve things. You can see small changes, staff in uniforms, better trained and service. Discreet refurbishment in progress. A lovely hotel with a fine heritage that is going somewhere. I have another large group to plan for so if it goes ahead we will probably come back here

However, the main course did not meet my expectations. I had anticipated fondant potatoes, but they were not served. Instead, there was an excessive amount of mashed potatoes. The beef was overcooked, and the vegetables were quite ordinary.
