What David Dubé doesn't like about Sicilian Roast by Giuseppe Genco:
Definitely one of the better Italian restaurant here in Manila. The pasta was freshly made and the bread was freshly baked. Though I find the food a little bit bland. I kept adding salt and pepper and even chili flakes to my food just to make it tastier. View all feedback.
Food very heavy ... I did not digest the food for one day ...we meet the chef ... the best dish was the linguine with botarga ... bat in mamun rock well is better
First thing I noticed about this place is how well decorated it is. It's quite impressive, big open space, well lit, doesn't feel cramped at all. Good quality lighting and furnishing. Very inviting and the atmosphere just makes you wanna sit back and enjoy a few glasses of wine. We were a group of 10 and they had a nice long table for us. They also had a nice private room which we hoped we had learned of sooner so that we could reserve it. Now the food, I'm not a big fan of Italian food, but I can appreciate good pasta or pizza. This place, in my opinion is just so-so when it comes to that. The Risotto was bland, the pasta was a little too al dente for my taste, and the brick oven pizza was burned. This is where our experience left a bitter taste in our mouths, we called our server and complained that the pizza was cooked un-evenly, the outer was burnt and the center was raw. The server then takes the pizza and after five minutes it comes back to our table on a smaller plate without so much as an explanation or apology. We then called for the manager and explained what happened to which she arrogantly says that's how it's supposed to taste, like we knew nothing about pizza. The management staff came off as rude about this issue rather than apologetic and didn't offer to replace or cancel the pizza until voices were raised. The second pizza we ordered was cooked better, and more evenly. The prawns and chicken were very good too, but it was hard to enjoy these after that incident. The wait staff were clumsy, dropped water on me twice and nearly knocked over glasses every time they served a dish, good thing we were there to hold the glasses up. Also they didn't know what they were serving, when they'd serve a dish and we'd ask what it was, they'd just return a blank look. All in all I wouldn't come back, and I wouldn't recommend the place.

Below average restaurant, expensive and poor quality food. Two of us shared a bruschetta starter and then each had fresh lobster ravioli for our mains, accompanied by water. The main course was luke warm, with the "lobster" little in evidence. When we found some, it was dry (possibly tinned?) and saturated in sickly sweet tomato sauce. We could have paid the same amount for a real 3 course Italian meal with wine just a few blocks away. The chef is living in his dreams if he believes what he says about his restaurant on his menus. Never again.
[Late Review] We are still quite stuffed when we entered this restaurant so we opted for their "dolci" selections. What captured us initially is how it looked from the street, their space looks good and well planned. The space bleeds inside so there's a lot of room for dining patrons and they also offer food items (pasta, canned goods and what have you) that you can take home. We picked a cake from their display which is the Pink Velvet (good for sharing, if you're ain't that hungry) and paired it with Salted Caramel Macchiato which is somewhat bordering too sweet for me. Oh the complimentary bread basket is something that I would go back to. The staff were friendly and approachable, everyone seems to be wearing smile on their faces. Will go back to try some of their pasta and pizza dishes as their menu looks promising.
