Every month or so we drive 80km. to have lunch at this pub. The staff are relaxed and friendly and give good service, the meals are always excellent and the salad bar is probably the best on Yorke Peninsula. The meals are just the usual pub fare but always really well cooked and presented. We particularly like the fish, but if you're especially hungry order the mixed grill! Prices are very reasonable. Live in Maitland. Mostly go to the Valley for a night out. Great food. The staff are always very friendly..
After writing a disappointed review when we dined a few months ago, we dined again with a group and what a difference! The menu has been changed to cater for gluten and dairy free, and it's really clear from the menu what is available for those people. Any of the crumbed meat is available with a gluten free crumb, and there were plenty of sauces available too. The chef did up some delicious crumbed chicken breast pieces for my daughter. Apparently they normally have a dairy free (soy) ice cream available (had run out, but that happens), but they had gluten free ice cream, and lactose free for those who can have it. They've obviously really worked on catering for gluten/dairy free and we had a lovely meal. Prices are very reasonable, great value. The dining room also looked amazing with all the Christmas decs. Thank you! 5 stars when the waiting staff are warm & friendly :)

The meals at the Yorke Valley Hotels are absolutely fantastic, and the staff are excellent especially Sharon, I really love the salads that are available, we always enjoy going to the Yorke Valley Hotel, it is a very friendly atmosphere, so when you come to Maitland, stop into the Yorke Valley Hotel and try the meals for yourself you won't be disappointed. from Shane & Lynn
We dined here on a Sat night with a big group in July. The group as a whole were really happy with their meals. I was left feeling very disappointed and quite cross really. My daughter and I are dairy and gluten intolerant. These days, this should be easy, to have a fantastic, tasty meal with no gluten or dairy, even on a busy night, with some forward planning and consideration from the customer. I called the hotel earlier in the week to discuss our needs. Spoke with a fantastic man, who allayed all my fears. I explained that we are used to having boring meals from hotels who don't understand, hence we ring ahead and plan. He seemed to understand the gluten & dairy thing well, and his first reaction was that it's easy, and definitely no need for borning. He explained that the chef has family members in a similar situation and caters well. No need to pre-order meals because there are so many options, which can be ordered on the night. Wow, I was so looking forward to the night. Oh dear. When we got there to order (one of the first in line when the kitchen opened to give them more time) it was a completely different story. I was met by a flustered and busy order-taker, with a huge line behind me, and felt that I was holding the whole show up with all my questions. They were completely unprepared to handle it. I ended up having plain steak and rice and a red wine jus, the only sauce on their massive list of sauces with no gluten or dairy. Nothing else. Not even any gluten free gravy. My daughter plain chicken tenderloins with rice and a touch of gravy, as thankfully she can handle a little gluten if it's all she has for a few days. They were too busy and flustered to organise some plain steamed veg. My daughter and I couldn't touch the veg & salad bar. And after being told that dessert would be easy, we had no dessert - we couldn't be sure about any of it because the busy person taking the order was so confused they couldn't deal with it and give us any feeling of peace that we could eat it without problems. This is exactly why I phoned ahead, days in advance. This is not good enough and extremely disappointing.
Went here for a lunch ex-Edithburgh and could not fault the place. Good quality meals and a salad-bar to die for. Service was good with an very informed staff that new their food. This place is a definite to come back to.
