Mainz is loaded with great restaurants tucked away along cobblestone side streets and beautiful open spaces and German 'piazzas '. Architecturally it 's food for the eyes. Al Cortile is one of several great restaurants. It has two levels with fireplaces. The space is modern and cosy and the menu is primarily Italian cuisine and German/Italian fusion food. Reservations are needed because its packed 7 days a week! I 've been here many times and will continue to go!

I'm an American from Texas and the people were quite friendly and accommodating. We had their baked ziti, calzone, and ravioli with some kind of green pesto-like sauce. It was all very good. I have to say the ravioli was one of the best dishes I've ever had. The decor was simple and relaxing. It was a little pricey but I think overall, worth it.
