Tasty lunch for 12 €, incl. red tuna tataki. I am quite picky when it comes to good fresh fish, particularly tuna having been spoiled by authentic Japanese cuisine for many years. Thus, to be offered a fresh and tasty tuna tataki as part of the lunch menu without additional charges is quite unique! You have 4 starters and 4 main courses to choose from in addition to various desserts, coffee or tea. For dessert I tried their lukewarm chocolate brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream so good you want to order a second! Definitely good price quality relation and the menu options are all appetizing.
My friend and I are studying Spanish here in Madrid and we went here to get some lunch. However we were not treated well even though we spoke in Spanish. After we ordered, the camarera sat another couple down next to us and literally took our silverware and eating supplies off of our table and put it on theirs, leaving us without supplies to eat when our food came. When ours did come, the other camarero brought us only one napkin and silverware and just set it on the table. I usually don’t complain, but what is up with that?
Getting out of the Reina Sofia museum, we haven 't been attracted by the restaurants around the square and finally we felt down a little farer in the Pecaditos Taberna. Frankly, it was not a good choice but it was near the Atocha station where we had to take our train one hour later. A strange mixture of restaurant, bar with lights like in a disco. At around 2PM the place was calm with only with two or three tables occupied. There is no menu but a list of 82 different snacks called pecaditos (small sins). Frankly, when we discover that one part of this pecaditos were nothing else than local hamburghers we try to have something simple but we understood very quick that it was not very easy. Impossible to have a salad and we had to take some tuna sticks over some very thin slices of tomatos and olive oil to avoid the russian salad that the was the main proposition. This starter was what we eat the best. The fallowing dish was really a bad choice as it was half cold meatballs in a tomato sauce and fried potatoes which was looking like a tin box warmed dish without any taste. Ok we could forget it thanks to a glass of red wine as the dessert was really a horrefull proposition named Browning . A simple cake very very dry put it over a spot of black chocolate. I can add that the rumanian waitress was kind but without any experience as first she served the coffee and came with the dessert 13 minutes after... So, what to say? Certainly not a place to choose like a restaurant despite the warm little breads served for 1€ like in italian restaurants the rest is based apparently with industrial ready food served with an aesthetic concern as if it were a big dish that in all the cases was not convincing. The price was not more than 11€ but frankly, in Spain for this price you can find fairly better.
