Went for a light dinner snack and ended up eating the pulpo gallega (octopus with potatoes). After my tapas of a couple of fresh mussels covered in celery and peppers plus some rather wonderful ham on bread, I got this absolutely stunning, tender octopus served with perfectly cooked, wonderfully waxy potatoes. It was all done little fuss, speedy and efficient service and at the highest quality. I had 2 glasses of highly pleasing wine for 2.50 euros and the total bill was 21 euros. I couldn't recommend the place any more strongly if you want high quality Spanish food in an informal bar setting.

We ate here the night that we arrived in Madrid. After a few days of travelling around Spain we decided to visit again for our final evening. On both occasions, 2 of our group had steak and the other had the veggie option. The steaks were extremely well cooked. Both rare and the steak was very tender. My veggie option, a salad with grilled goat's cheeses,was pretty good but it was only when the dish arrived that I remembered that the salad the first time around had been plastered with mayonnaise. Top tip? Ask to have the mayonnaise in a separate bowl! The waitress was brilliant and found us a lovely table upstairs.
