My friend has been mentioning this place to me for months and after finally going I understood why. The atmosphere and decor are really cool displaying lots of vintage signage, and other classic down home mississippi memorabilia. The food was excellent for sure. 2020: one of the best restaurant in Jackson area. Not overprice and good quality comfort food. Lunch is probably the best value. $10 for adults. Much better than gross chinese buffet or overprice casino buffet. Update 2024:So things have change since the last time I been here. Price is up and quality is down. Still have a lot customers as before. My complaints are all the sides like mash potatoes, green beans taste like it is from a can or made from a packet. Chicken and dumplings had no meat. Ribs are salty and dry Fried chicken and bake chicken is still good. Service is still quick and nice. They have AC on the top floor now which is more comfortable than before. If you want to fill your belly this is still a good place to go. $14 for lunch and $17 for dinner.
Ooooo weeee! My very first trip to Mama Hamil's..This is the best home cooked country buffet I've ever had! The selection is amazing!! The ribs and smoked chicken are a must! I dont know who's in the kitchen, but don't let them get away! Definitely go on an empty stomach! You can not find a more affordable buffet than this. We spent more at Newks for 2 salads and half of a sandwich than we did on 2 buffet meals! Everyone was so welcoming! Can't wait to go again!
Southern comfort food without floating in grease. Mama Hamils has the que down to a fine art. You'll find yourself processed thru and sitting down to eat in quick-smart time. Good value and swift service.
The gizzards are not all clean I touched a very dirty one that made me want to chew it. They should be checked before frying them.
We just left Mama Hamils and I wish I could give 10 stars!!! The food was excellent! Best ribs I’ve ever eaten and our server EVERETT was fabulous!! You need to eat here and ask for his tables!! Thanks Everett for your caring and humble attitude!! God bless!
I took my husband there for his 60th Birthday Dinner! The food was Excellent!! Everything was hot and there are so many vegetables and meats to choose from! We really enjoyed ourselves!
