This inn is located on a wooded hillside above the Ohio River in an Indiana State Park, making it a wonderful getaway spot. We have visited this inn multiple times over the years and have always had a great experience. Despite some changes due to the pandemic, the inn remains a great place to stay and unwind. The new Indiana-made mattresses are incredibly comfortable and each room is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. We prefer the peace and quiet of the Parkside rooms, which are conveniently located near the indoor pool, hot tub, lobby, gift shop, and dining room. The staff at the inn are always friendly and helpful. This inn has everything you could need for a relaxing stay, including a peaceful location near Madison, opportunities for hiking in natural areas, a nice dining room, a clean and underused pool, and safe and comfortable rooms for the night. We will definitely be returning in the future.
My family and I went to the restaurant for the Sunday buffet on Father's Day and we really enjoyed it. Our server, Madison, was excellent and very sweet. We would rate the service 5 out of 5.
The Inn is in a beautiful setting, with scenic views of the river but after that it's luster quickly dulls. The most notable problem is the noxious odor in the rooms that we booked all of them had a strong moldy smell coming from the AC and we found a sock under the sheets of one bed leading us to believe the beds had not been made.Rooms: Sock found under the sheets, centipede crawling around, very noxious odor in our 3 rooms.Food drinks: They are understaffed so service was slow and poor.
Found bed bugs in my room. Confronted the front desk, they switched us rooms but refused to allow us to use the washing machine for our clothes as to not spread bugs to the new room or my home also refused to pay for the clothes to be taken to a laundromat. Pretty much said that it's not their problem if bedbugs from their room spread to my home. They had housekeeping go into the room to look for bugs. Not a professional. Told me I'm lying about the bugs and bug droppings I found all over the room. Told us we are bot welcome back. I dint want to come back you have bed bugs!!!
We arrived Friday, May 19 and the South gate entrance is closed until next week for construction. The drive from the north gate through the park is about 10 minutes which is inconvenient when we booked this hotel due to its proximity to the wedding venue. The rooms on the river side have a beautiful view that we enjoyed but it was a little weird that the balconies were adjoining and the locks to the sliding doors are kind of finicky. There is no cleaning service for multiple-night stays. Extra linens were available at the front desk. The pool was large and the area was clean with plenty of seating and towels. Our kids had hours of fun in the pool with their cousins. There was a lot of seating around the hotel and different activities for entertainment. The hiking in the park was challenging and fun for our group. I recommend staying at the inn for its proximity to trails and the food in the Sunday lunch buffet was amazing after a long hike. The rooms are dated but clean.Food drinks: The restaurant had a delicious lunch buffet with a variety of homemade items.
