Southern Leyte Divers - Macrohon

A real gem in Southern Leyte! Was here with a family for a week and enjoyed every moment of it! A family ran diving resort with more 25 years' tradition. Owners and the staff did everything to make us feel welcome, comfortable and we could really relax and chill. World class diving with very professional instructors and completely new boat. Rooms are nice, air conditioned, clean and well maintained. Food is great European stomach friendly, home made bread, properly made local food and even occasional sashimi or other specialties. Note that the whole area is still recovering from Dec 2021 typhoon so some things are being rebuilt, internet is flaky and beaches and some reefs are not what they used to be. Fantastic! Can't say enough great things about the SL team. We were 6 people sleeping in 2 rooms. SUPER clean, airco ceiling fan, comfortable bedding. Food was great good mix on euro and local. Really enjoyed meeting Gunter and his wife. The resort has beautiful views and the food excellent (very good for vegetarians). My cottage mattress was a bit basic. There’s no wi fi I didn’t find this a huge issue. Get a Smart SIM card at the airport with data and it’s easy enough to stay in touch. The dive ops are well run. I went at the end of September and did four shores dives in Sogod Bay. If you want to see Whale Sharks or go to the more exotic locations like Limasawa you’ve GOT to go later. I was the only diver in the three resorts in the area absolutely no chance of a boat ride out that far with only one passenger. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5

Worst stay ever, no WiFi, in the shower there is only cold water or boiling, I love hot water but it was boiling. The toilet wasn't working half of the times and we had to use the trash bin to take water and throw it. Also you might find sometimes that there is no water in the bathroom. You are in the middle of nowhere and they aren't helpful. Anyway the area is beautiful for scuba diving.
