On our way back north to uk from the Mediterranean coast we stopped at Macon overnight. We found this gem on the internet and called to book in our best franglais. The staff upon arrival were friendly and welcoming and spoke a little English along with our efforts to speak French. We explained our dietary needs and they understood and guided us through the menu with this in mind. The food was excellent and the wine list extensive with plenty local wines at a reasonable price. Not a cheap night out but great value for the quality delivered. We would recommend. A big thank you to the charming hostess who served us and kept us well looked after with a little English and French mixed in. Lovely location along the river by the marina too.
A well-established family run restaurant on the banks of the Saone near Macon. The inside and outside dining both provide stunning riverside views; the food is very well-presented and the service friendly and efficient.
This restaurant is not in town so you have to know about it in advance. It is a very French classical gourmet restaurant. Excelllent service excellent food very reasonable prices
In the sun or in the shade ? we were asked when booking. This attention to detail is typical throughout. A small but varied menu at prices which we thought was a mistake. €69 for a five course superb menu and wines also at reasonable price. The restaurant sits on the side of the Sôane and is idylic. we were very pleasantly surprised by everything and recommend it to anybody. service is fast and good.
We broke our journey south to spend a night in Macon specifically so that we could return to this restaurant. Since our last visit in 2018 the original owners have retired and passed the restaurant on to their family. We were delighted to find that it was as excellent as before. The setting, beside the Saone is idyllic and we were escorted to our well-spaced table by a very pleasant waiter. It was difficult to choose from the menu, because all the dishes sounded so inviting. We enjoyed a delicious starter of crab and lobster, followed by beautifully presented main courses of lamb and duck. Desserts were equally tasty and we enjoyed some quality local wines, chosen from a comprehensive list. Our short walk back along the riverbank to our hotel concluded a perfect start to our holiday.
