Cox Cafe - Macon
Cox Cafe
Description
The restaurant, located in an industrial area, may seem a bit unexpected at first but the food is well worth it. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is homey with local working folk coming in for lunch. The Southern dishes served are fresh and delicious, with standout items such as the fried chicken and lace cornbread. While the cabbage could use more flavor, the overall experience of dining at this mom and pop farm/industrial Cafe is highly recommended. It's a no frills, good food establishment that offers great size servings at a good price. Whether you try the beef tips, fried pork chops, or spicy sausages, this restaurant is a must-visit for those looking for a taste of authentic Southern cuisine in Macon.

This is one of those off the beaten path kind of places that you usually only know about because someone else took you there or told you about it or you just happen to stumble upon it when you go there, you are soooooo glad you did because you do not find places that cook home cooked meals like this hardly anywhere. VERY GOOD FOOD!!
Always great home cooking, breakfast and lunch... but as with everywhere else, they need some help working.
Cafeteria style, choose what you want, waitress will come to your table and take drink order. She will also bring check. Wife and I had rice smothered with cubed roast beef and gravy. We also had fried cornbread, something totally new for us. Working man's good food at a great price. Helpful friendly staff.
