Anticipation - Lyon

Perhaps it was the weather or my particular appetite this day that made me relish each bite. The feel and charm of the place played into my opinion and influenced my experience greatly. The waiter was so proud of what was being offered that he was smiling and glowing throughout the meal. The meal had a rustic charm and expressed great care. Duck carpaccio was presented with rich balsamic vinegar parmesan cheese shavings and fine cut scallions. The combination of flavors were too good to be real. It was a meal created from great ingredients in a simple and tasteful way. The other part of the meal was equally touched with pride, skill, and quality. I was very grateful.

There's nothing wrong with this restaurant. However, the food is not anything great, which is readily available at other restaurants in Lyon. I had the duck; it was nice, but had thick, sweet sauce that tasted like it was poured from a cheery can as opposed to lovingly developed by a chef. My wife's meal was similarly okay. Not worth the price. The wine was particularly overpriced compared to the quality and prices at other Lyon restaurants.
