Reviews - Java Jitters
Reviews summary
Beloved by longtime regulars for friendly, fast service, late hours and wallet-friendly prices, this neighborhood espresso stand offers solid takeout, bagels, pastries and a variety of coffees and Lotus Italian sodas. Loyal baristas create a welcoming, family-like vibe, but drink quality can be inconsistent—espresso sometimes weak or over-milked—and serious management and hygiene issues (including high staff turnover and a past mite infestation) have been reported. Worth a visit for quick, affordable caffeine and friendly faces, but be mindful of uneven quality and operational concerns.
Was Anam Pasha at Java Jitters a mag?
There are plenty of drive-thru coffee stands in this area, so I decided to give them a try. The signage on 99-South is slightly obscured, but you can spot the sign that says "espresso." Their coffee beans come from Urban City Coffee, located in Mountlake Terrace, which I might also try in the future. I appreciate how the menu clearly indicates the number of shots per size. What Thomas Schrager dislikes about Java Jitters:

In a world grounded in order, the espresso that flows from this machine should be a thick, dark embodiment of delight—much like a river of ink celebrating the rich nectar that has fueled civilizations since the Ottomans first discovered these magical beans. Instead, what emerges from this machine is a pale, lackluster mixture, reminiscent of a forgotten backwater stream, completely devoid of the deep, enchanting flavor that espresso should possess. To add insult to injury, an overwhelming amount of milk dilutes whatever meager character this brew might have offered, transforming my cup into a swirling sea of blandness. I’m left holding what is labeled as ‘coffee,’ but is, in reality, a betrayal of the very essence of coffee—70% disappointment and an aftertaste of sadness.
This is one of the oldest and most trusted espresso stands in Lynnwood. Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

I go to Java Jitters all the time and it’s consistently one of the best coffee stands around, mostly because they’re so consistent, and the staff is all super friendly. I get their “Hippie Juice” tea and it’s delicious and on-point every time. Service: Take out Meal type: Other Price per person: $1–10 Recommended dishes: Italian Sodas
Love to drop by here frequently for a good latte or dirty chai latte. Baristas are always very kind and fun to chat with, although sometimes the quality in the drinks can vary and are a bit inconsistent. Nonetheless, the service is always great and fast! Prices are very reasonable as well especially with what most cafes charge these days. Price per person: $1–10 Food: 4

Fantastic coffee every time I visit! Thank you for being such a great coffee stand!
I give 5 stars to all the girls who used to work there and to the few who are still around. Jess, Trish, and Angela are my favorites! They are absolutely fantastic and have truly become like family over the years. I miss the old team and wish I could see the others more often. The place has definitely changed, and I can tell you that my family and I used to visit daily, but the drinks and service just aren't the same unless it's from Jess, Trish, or Angela.

Best coffee shop around. The ladies are so nice. Thanks for the many years of triple shot cappuccinos. Will continue coming here for many more.
The staff turnover rate is horrendous, and they struggle to keep employees. I worked incredibly hard for this company, complying with every request, yet I'd come into work each morning only to be yelled at. Perhaps the most alarming issue was the mite infestation that lasted over a month without any action taken. The mites were in everyone's drinks, crawling on us, and even getting into our cars—literally everywhere. Management instructed us not to inform customers, which is unacceptable. The entire experience became exhausting and created a toxic work environment. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for employment.
Best coffee shop in the area! The staff is incredibly friendly. I appreciate all the years of amazing triple shot cappuccinos. I will definitely keep coming back for more!
In a well-ordered universe, the divine beverage that should flow from this espresso machine is a rich, dark elixir—akin to a deep ink that pays homage to the nectar that has fueled civilizations since the Ottomans discovered the wondrous coffee bean. Instead, what emerges is a pale, uninspired brew that resembles a stagnant creek, devoid of the deep, enchanting allure that real espresso possesses. To make matters worse, an overwhelming amount of milk drowns any trace of flavor this drink might have contained, leaving me with a cup that resembles a swirling sea of blandness. What I hold is deceptively labeled as 'coffee,' yet in truth, it is a betrayal of the very essence of the drink—filled to the brim with disappointment and leaving a lingering taste of sadness.
