We had already booked another restaurant one evening but decided to switch at the last minute to Alankar as the reviews were good but my! were we disappointed !... read more We had already booked another restaurant one evening but decided to switch at the last minute to Alankar as the reviews were good but my! were we disappointed ! Either that or I must have had covid as my tastebuds were not enjoying themselves On arrival we were taken to our table which just had a tablecloth and nothing else- no plates, serviettes, cutlery, glasses as you would expect in any restaurant. The limited staff seemed a little flustered and were struggling to meet demand (bearing in mind they had not long opened). The restaurant had no ambience and was cold and noisy. The plates arrived and were cold. The mixed grill lacked flavour, the kachori was over cooked and the chick peas in the channa masala were hard and tasted uncooked. Naan was a bit doughy. I’m not sure what has gone wrong here as we have eaten at this restaurant a few years ago a number of times and even attended a family party in the function room upstairs. The only positive I can say is that the staff were pleasant and friendly. Regrettably we shan’t be eating here again

Tried the cassava starter and although i'd never heard of it... wow, best starter I've ever tasted. You wont be disappointed and added bonus having private off road parking. Wish we lived closer but will visit the next time we are in the area!
