They were out of a lot of the meat options but the turkey and chopped beef and sides were delicious! Def going back to try more. Older building and bathroom was broken/clogged.
The BBQ Brisket Was Very Delicious and The Pork Ribs Was So Delicious The Meat Just About Fell Off Of The Bones
Fresh authentic down-home Texas BBQ! I ordered (and demolished) a sliced brisket sandwich, suuuper tender, just delicious. They serve their own BBQ sauce and it added so much flavor, not that it was lacking to begin with! The staff were very easy to talk to and nice, though they were not sure what my friend meant by chopped brisket as opposed to sliced brisket, which confused us all. But they were sweet and chatted with us either way. Overall great experience especially for a lunch stop on a long drive!
Luling BBQ offers a genuine Texas BBQ experience with tender brisket, flavorful ribs, sausage, chicken, and turkey complemented by a unique sauce that enhances every bite. Known for its welcoming staff and clean, rustic setting, the restaurant boasts an impressive variety of sides including scalloped potatoes, broccoli slaw, and potato salad—favorites among many guests. While some sides and specific meats received mixed reviews, the overall atmosphere and quality of meat make it a worthwhile stop. Despite occasional shortages and minor service quirks, Luling BBQ remains a beloved local gem, ideal for those seeking authentic, hearty barbecue.

A Really Cool Adventure!!!. Went to Luling today for the Watermelon Thump Festival and to eat at City Market. Well seems like everyone on earth knows that City Market is not open on Sunday's except me. No problem, we decided to eat up the street half a block at Luling Bar B Que, and I'm glad we did. The counters all the way at the back and the line went all the way to the front door. All 15 tables were full, and everybody was HUNGRY from cruising the Watermelon Festival, so we decided to stick it out. (The heavenly smell of BBQ contributed as well) Actually, it took all of about 10 minutes to get to the counter, (which gives you plenty of time to meet your neighbor in line and discuss the menu) yell your order at the guys behind the counter, pay and turn to hunt for a table. One of the absolute best things about Texas is that if you see a table that has a couple of empty seats where someone is sitting, it really is okay to introduce yourself and ask if you can join them. If they say no, you can bet they're from somewhere else. As luck would have it, a picnic table came open just as we turned from the counter, so we grabbed it and asked the family of 4 behind us to join us. We all sat down, said grace, and dove in. My sausage was terrific, but my wifes Jalapeño Sausage was unbelievable. Ribs were good, moist and just the right spice. My wifes Smoked chicken was out of this world. Heres the thing, NONE of this meat needed any BBQ Sauce. It was perfect just like it was. There was sauce on the table, and we tried it and liked it, but the meat just didn't need it. Thats Good Que!!! Sides were good and fresh, and weren't cooked into oblivion like most BBQ places. Service was Texas friendly and prices were way better than your standard BBQ prices in San Antonio. Combination plate was 7.50. For BBQ this good, thats a value. We said goodbye to our new friends and went to look for some watermelon for dessert. I don't know if City market is better than Luling's, but if it is, its got to be the best on the planet, cause this is some of the best BBQ I've ever had. This trip to Luling was a really cool adventure.
Great BBQ! After sampling some brews at Shiner Brewery, we headed to Luling for some classic Central Texas barbecue. The combo plate featuring brisket, chicken, and two sides was excellent. The brisket was tender and flavorful, while the chicken met expectations perfectly. I can't wait to return!
The sausage is good. The bbq sauce has a kick. The beans are not that good. The soda selection is great.
Awesome BBQ and service. From now on this will be our favorite spot point when we drive from Houston to San Antonio. I have never seen my kids eat so much and so fast.
Typically, a BBQ joint lets the delicious aroma of smoke and meat waft through the air, enticing BBQ lovers from afar. However, I didn't catch that familiar scent until I actually stepped inside the restaurant. Once I did, I knew I was in for a treat — although it also meant I’d be leaving with the pleasant smell of smoked meat clinging to my clothes. That’s not a problem unless you happen to work in a dog shelter, as you might cause quite a stir among the dogs! The restaurant operates on a cafeteria style, where you order at the counter. There are plenty of options for sides. The brisket was quite good, and the sauce was decent, though I didn't find it overly reminiscent of a honey mustard vinegar blend. As for the sausage, it was a bit disappointing. It may have lingered too long under the warming lights, resulting in it being somewhat dry and lackluster. On the bright side, the potato salad was creamy with nice chunks of potato, and I enjoyed the flavorful pinto beans. It’s easy to see why this place is often listed among Texas’s Top 50 BBQ spots, though it certainly isn't because of the staff's demeanor. Both food servers had sour expressions that suggested they'd rather be anywhere else, seemingly just counting the minutes until they could return to their routine cleaning and other tasks. It’s a shame to receive such an unwelcoming vibe in a small town, where friendly and smiling faces are usually the norm, especially when trying to win customers over. I might consider visiting again, perhaps in search of friendlier service, but their food did leave a positive impression.

Rustic vibes and delicious meats. We had the ribs, brisket, turkey and sausage. It was all sooo good. The sauce was so unique and when poured on the food made all the flavors pop. Definitely would recommend. The sides could be better but overall greatexperience. Excellent service.
Our first visit and it was ok. I wasn't super impressed with the ribs. Now the au gratin potatoes were a hit with me. My friend got the brisket sandwich and she enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly and the place is very clean. The service isspeedy and courteous.

The food was excellent, but the soda cashier could improve their customer service skills.
