What Richard and Lisa doesn't like about La Pergola:
I have been going to going to Barga for over 40 years. The new owners of this restaurant have no idea of customer service. It took 90 minutes to serve me and my wife 2 pizzas and a half litre of wine! No apologies! We got there at 7.30 pm, took them 10 minutes to take us to a table, even though there were plenty of available tables. We waited a further 10 minutes, no service. My wife had to get our menus, no apologie... View all feedback.
Had lunch and dinner here 3 days in a row. Attracted to it because it’s off the beaten path and filled with hometown folks. Once the proprietor quickly realized that I couldn’t speak or read Italian, he helped me with the handwritten lunch menu. This is solid, traditional fare with no frills at very reasonable prices. Even tried the pizza one evening after observing how many others were enjoying theirs. Best I’ve ever had. Pleasant staff and relaxed atmosphere. Just an easy place to enjoy a good meal!

We were driving in the country north of Lucca and wanted to stop for lunch. We found this restaurant in Barga, and it was just what we were looking for. There was a handwritten lunch menu with the special of the day, but when we asked for insalata mista and tagliatelle al funghi, they accommodated us. The salad was very fresh and quite a good size and the pasta was excellent. I would recommend this place if you are ever in the town of Barga.
Great find always seem to find great food outside Tourist areas in Tuscany, as home owners visited many restaurants in the region over the years. Lovely fish recommended, by the knowledgeable waiter; accompanied by excellent wine. A great find!
When the combination of essential and goto is perfectly combined. delicious and concise menu with few courses but great, we recommend the cutlets and cheeses of the risotto with porcini mushrooms and the polenta with wild boar, the staff is very friendly and the prices are contained. frank manuela. We'll be back!
