Maira is one of my favorite go to spots for a quick real food lunch. I always get a pita sandwich, and the beef sandwich is fantastic, the prices are good. The portion size is nice as well. The interior is definitely no frills but it doesn 't really need to have frills for what it is. I 'm mainly leaving this review to offer feedback to the restaurant, I don 't see another option on a website or elsewhere. In prior y... View all feedback.
What Amanda S doesn't like about Maira Mediterranean Grill:
Not impressed. I got the Chicken Schwarma plate. Based on all the great reviews, I thought I was in for a treat, but the chicken was super dry and the rice wasn't flavorful. The seasoning on the chicken was also very salty. There was almost a Mexican chili powder/cumin sort of flavor in there. The salad was better than the rest on the plate and the service was friendly at pick up, but that's all I've got for this one... View all feedback.
Absolutely delicious!! And you can not beat the prices for the quality and quantity you receive. I always get the Chicken Swarrma Sandwich 5) with a side of the garlic sauce .50 cents). The chicken is seasoned well and always juicy never dry. The sandwich is huge and is more than enough for lunch or dinner. The garlic sauce is a must try. It's a light airy sauce that packs a punch. The rice is a must try as well. Always perfectly cooked and lightly seasoned. And for only 2 is a great add on to your sandwich. The hummus is a must try as well. Great flavor and you can try it for .50 for a small cup. The beef Swarrma and kofta are also amazing as well. My son 7 yrs old) had the beef swarrma kids meal and it was so much food that he had enough for lunch the next day. He tried tahini for the first time and loved it. This is his new favorite place to eat now. My family and I ordered 4 sandwiches, a kids meal, extra side of garlic sauce and hummus and our total was only 26.50. The location is a little tricky if you aren't familiar with UofL campus. It's right next to the laundry mat and insomnia cookies.
I love this place, the food is so good. The people are so kind and generous. To all the Mediterranean food lover you should definetly check this place out. I give 10/10.
Fabulous Mediterranean food Chicken Sharma was delicious, the hummus was the best I’ve ever had. And the young woman chef behind the counter were so helpful.
We had just returned from a long road trip and were in need of something yummy and fresh. This place was not only that but more! The hummus was simple and tasty, the felafel smooth (they served it with hummus, pita, salad and tiny wonderful pickles which was all perfect! , the salad abundant, and the lentil soup spiced and lovely. With a super friendly staff, simple and clean space, and incredible food, Maira is a great addition to the U of L/Cardinal Town/Old Louisville area!
