What OpenTable Diner doesn't like about Black Jockey's Lounge:
The drinks and food were quite good here dining before a show. The only issue we had in a party of 4 was one entree was never delivered before having to leave for the show. All other drinks and appetizers were handled well and were delicious but this was an issue and would have been a bigger one if the apps were not so generously portioned. View all feedback.
This was a cool spot located downtown. They had line dancing in the front with a DJ. They even had someone teaching the dances and there were some complicated ones.I went with a friend and we sat in the back, further away from the speakers. It was pretty loud.I got the Murphy to drink $14), the steak tacos $16), which is was list as an appetizer and greens $7). The steak tacos were good but they were loaded with onions. The greens have a strong vinegar flavor but I like vinegar so it works for me.The service was just ok. They forgot my greens and I had to flag down the server to get them. She walk by multiple time but did not check on us. I will chalk it up to them being busy.
It's a beautiful place so we were really expecting something good. We were very disappointed. The hostess seemed confused about where to sit us which led to us standing awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant for a minute or so. Our server forgot our menu and one of our drinks while she was busy texting right next to us at the bar. The food was over-priced and under-flavored. My shrimp and grits was unseasoned save for the inch of oil that rimmed the plate. My companions burger and Mac and cheese were equally bland and greasy. Our cocktails weren't even made right! On top of that the live music was a mediocre DJ who just played songs from the radio with zero mixing while occasionally saying his own name over it. Overall it was a very poor introduction to Louisville.
Let's say the atmosphere is awesome, service was great, the band was good. Now Let's talk about the appetizer fried potato chips and house cheese sauce was delicious. Fried Fish and fries salty, greens had too much vinegar taste with a bite, macaroni and cheese was bland. Wings are huge and for the price you get 4.Now Angus burger was great. I did mention that vinegar needs to be added by customers. Overall other than the salty and vinegar food. A burger American way would be best choice next time no salt fries. I didn't send anything back but I can say this need better food quality taste testers there.
The catfish dinner was very good. The atmosphere was really nice. My husband and I loved it. We will definitely be back.
