Zankou Chicken - Los Angeles

I called to make a pick-up order, and when I picked up a family member, they said they had no order. I called the place on Sepulveda and spoke to the same person I had ordered, and he said there was no order. I gave him my order and my number to check, and he didn't care, and he said he didn't know and we had to wait for a new order. I told him it was just fair to get some kind of compensation as we have to wait now, unless he would rather call me the headquarters and the complaint, and he said very carelessly to call the office and complain. He obviously didn't take care of her mistake, so they lost a very good customer here. Very bad service.

ZC is typically consistent with the quality of their food and has always been one of my fav spots, but I was surprised and very disappointed with the chicken jerky and beef chips plate I received in place of the chicken tarna and tri-tip shawerma. Must?ve been an off day :

This is a great spot for all walks of life. The flavor is something extraordinary. Get that garlic sauce for sure. Healthy eater, somebody who wants something mediterranean, after a bicycle ride, tourist traveling through town, it 's a local favorite. There is street parking available, or parking in the shared lot just north of Zankou 's front door. You 'll see the driveway. Anything you order here is good in my honest opinion. The rice, the hummus, the falafel, the shawarma, lamb, chicken, beef, Etc. That pink, pickled root is also a nice Tangy contrast to the savory meats. Speaking of savory, the meat is always flavored on point. Just the right amount of salt, just the right amount of heat or pepper. You can always make it spicier by adding the little small peppercinis. This place has been around since at least the '90s, if not earlier. The other one that I like going to is on Sepulveda near Santa monica. I still give this place five stars because of the quality of the meal for what you pay. But I do wish that they would lower their prices $2 all around. Just like everything else, inflation is driving up the price. I ordered online to pick up and it was ready very fast. Food was ok, I don 't get why people rave about the tarna chicken, it was just ok a bit dry, got also the tri tip and was ok, garlic sauce -ok-. Hummus was really good and basmati rice away. The mixed up my salad order. They should have more staff in the cashier, there was people waiting to pick up and to order and only one cashier, she could have said I 'll be right there or something. I was a bit confused.

It used to be so much better. The quality has gone way down. So have the portions. Used to be cheap but now it?s like $22 per person. Barely any rice or hummus with your meal just a TON of onions. Over this place.
