Dogs 4u - Longwood

I have been taking my two small dogs here (she only grooms small dogs) for more than 15 years. Terry knows what she’s doing, she is very reliable, and I know she loves my dog! She really gets to know her clients and their dogs, and I highly recommend her.

Ok. I know the Covid has screwed up all kinds of things... yesterday I stopped in for a Russian Imperial. The smell of wet dog from the porch with the sign, that they like dogs, all throughout the inside, air conditioned bar area,,, I went straight to the bathroom and even free coming out again the stink of wet dog permeated. Gotta tel ya, used to love this place, no thanks. You've been warned I guess. ps Clean up the porch and no more dawgs please, wet or otherwise.

One of my favorite breweries in the Orlando area hands down, Hourglass is a bonafide knockout of a joint where they make incredible beers. Located in Longwood, about 20 to 25 minutes north of Orlando, the brewery consists of two production facilities (one reserved for their mixed culture beers), with the main taproom in the original retail space that 's vast and long 240 seats to be precise. Filled with posters of films dating back to the 80s and 90s, board and video, cornhole boards, and a back patio, Hourglass is a gem just as a hang out spot. Beer wise, Hourglass is the best brewery in the Orlando that produces a lot of craft beers that match my style preference, using various types of fruits as well as other herbs and malts from across the globe. Being that there were scores of in house made beers ready to be tried on the tap list, I wasted no time by ordering a flight of some of them. The splendidly creamy Zambian Milkshake was a milkshake IPA that burst with honey and lactose but stayed quite light bodied and very refreshing. The African hoppiness of the beer brought me to a place of human understanding with an inner voice saying, I 'm part of this community. I 'm here for you. The mocha sweetness of the Morlock milk stout was consistent and enjoyable. The oaked aged bliss of the Quenepa Permeation sour had plenty of fruity goodness, life, and character, with a nice barley finish complimenting the quenepa fruit. The Town Rose farmhouse ale was very lovely and rich on the palate with a nice balance of rose hips and barley. My favorite beer of the lot was the Enchanting Wizard of Rhythm fruit, which 100% magical, screaming to me of the yesteryear 's joys amongst a field full of toys. You tasted the oak barrel aged character, the beets, earthiness, and smokiness against the citrusy, fruity goodness. I couldn 't leave Hourglass without buying some goodies to bring back to South Florida. I picked up bottles of the Apricaustic (an 18.5% Apricot and Honey Beer juggernaut), the Plum Permeation (a plum forward oak fermented sour ale that was quite lovely), and the aforementioned Enchantment (like I said, very magical). After frequenting many of the breweries in the Orlando area, I can safely say Hourglass is the best, hands down. I will drive out of my way just to enjoy a pint and bring some bottles and can home for further drinking satisfaction.

Before this pandemic caused businesses like Hourglass to close its doors to the bar, I was a loyal and somewhat regular customer. The atmosphere is cool, the beers are always interesting and good. The bartenders are professional and helpful. My girlfriend and I were regulars at a Trivia Night and I also enjoy the artwork and have even purchased a few. I wanna support local businesses during this crisis even if it means purchasing items curbside to enjoy at home. This is exactly what I did yesterday. I ordered a crawler which I 've learned is a smaller version of a growler of one of their made in house brews. I placed my order online and was there for pickup at the time I requested. When I got there, there was a table set up w the staff member on one side and I on the other. I wore a mask, she did not-whatever. I told her that I was happy to still be able to purchase a beer from the Hourglass and asked how they were doing-her response-blank stare. I told her that I pre-ordered and gave her my name. She couldn 't find my order and acted as if I wasn 't being honest-I told her, no big deal and gave her my order verbally. She then found my information on her iPad and went to fill my order. Never a pleasant word. When she gave me my crawler, I told her that I thought I was getting a growler (obviously my fault) but instead of explaining their menu verbiage-she immediately flipped the screen around to show me that I ordered something different-I said, ok, my bad. If she would have offered me something different or even tried to up sell me a growler or a second crawler-I would have purchased it. After ending my transaction including a nice tip-she never said thank you, stay safe, have a nice day-I just laughed and said ok-goodbye. I 'm glad that Hourglass is still serving customers through this pandemic, I was disappointed with the lack of personality and hospitality that I remembered getting there before this unfortunate situation-I 'll wait until their doors are open again before returning.

I don't know what vacuum of the space time continuum we are in that I haven't reviewed Hourglass yet. I LOVE Hourglass. Hourglass has the best beers, the friendliest bartenders and the coolest digs to hang out in. When Irma knocked my power out, Hourglass was welcoming with WiFi and AC (and of course, beer). I brought my tired husband and newborn here to get us out of the house and have some chicken wings from neighboring Papa Bee's and beers. Joe is THE nicest and best bartender ever, but they're all pretty solid. We have always felt welcome, well cared for, and their beers are delicious. My favorites are Honeybell Wit, 2 or 4 million Bees and they make some farmhouse that both hydrates and soothes all my pain after a long summer day of yard work but the menu changes. The bartenders can always help with a recommendation if you need.
