the desire to stay here for paddy's day was fantastic. great location with lots of space to the parking lot, right in front of the city, so there is piece and rest after a good night out. the place was very clean, beautiful decor in the room where I stayed. the next morning I have a fabulous Irish breakfast that went down like a tasty bite. also to say the price was great for the people for the night that was great.... where to begin, we traveled 4 hours for a family funeral, my own and my partner paid 90 euro for the night when their over a size 12 forget about the bathroom, it was tiny hardly had space to move, even we had a towel to share, so after the shower, which was not good for us, while my sister inlaw paid 55 euro for a room and had a huge bathroom with a single bed. I stayed at the Westhouse Cafe and B+B and booked a double room with an en suite bathroom for 54 euro for two people, including breakfast. The room was tastefully decorated and the en suite was spotless. The breakfast was delicious and served by the friendly and welcoming landlady, Frieda. I highly recommend this establishment.
Very affordable, clean and homely place with great breakfast and cafe. Very central location near Athlone and Longford. Perfect base for those visiting Ireland and traveling around during the day.
We had lunch here on Sunday 25th. Mam had a roast Turkey dinner and she loved it. She was particularly impressed with the unique stuffing which had a variety of nut in it. I had a nice breakfast and a lovely cappuccino. Our waitress was very nice. Mam will definitely spread the word as will I. Nice reasonably priced, relaxed spot.
The soup of the day unsurprisingly mixed veg was tolerable....just. The steak was paper thin and cooked to to ensure it was as tasteful as a rubber ball, despite us asking for medium rare. Basically inedible even if you like your meat well done. It was served with a scattering of burned mushrooms. The 'roast chicken salad ' was a few lumps of what we assume was boiled, unseasoned, dry as a bone, thawed chicken breast on a bed of barely chopped raw spring onion, with a lump of mashed potato, some more onion red this time, a tomato, one pickled beetroot (unsliced), some store bought coleslaw and some grated cheddar cheese. The glassware and cutlery were dirty. If you really really must eat here then stick to something very basic such as a cooked breakfast something that is impossible to mess up (though that 's what I was thinking when I ordered a salad).
Have to say I was a little skeptical when we decide to stop here for lunch from the out side it’s seems it’s some ones house as you drive in the drive way any way ventured inside for some lunch the girl serving was very friendly and efficient at her job placed our order myself my wife and our two kids food arrive after a short wait it was hot fresh and delicious premises were very clean and looked and smelled clean and fresh toilets were spotless decor was nicely done and warm and welcoming I will return again Can’t comment on the b&b part of the premises as we just stopped for lunch but if the cafe restaurant part is to go on I’d say it would be plesent the only bad comment I can actually make is the old civic lying up at the entrance looks abandoned but if that’s the only bad thing I can say about the place then it could be seen as looking for faults To the staff and owner you’s have the place looking nice and good food hard found around longford
