Was craving chips salsa/Mexican food near LGB Airport and found this little gem of a place for a quick lunch meet up with a gf who came into town for the day, and was scheduled to fly out of LGB. What LBC7782 doesn't like about Plancha Latin Kitchen:
The restaurant itself is beautiful and very well done, but the food was lackluster. The bowl was pretty good, but nothing I'd make a point to come back for. The empanadas didn't seem fresh and didn't have much flavor or texture. Ceviche looked tasted like shrimp cocktail in a soup of lime juice with some avocado rather than a true ceviche. This place is so good, my family and I loved it. Caught this place by accident and a good thing too. Their food sizes are decant yet filling. Nothing tasted greasy at all, tasted fresh.
Customer service was good and the restaurant was very clean and inviting. I love the concept and set up. The food is just not good unfortunately. Very plain and no flavor or seasoning in my opinion. Sorry but I wouldn't come back.
A friend told us this restaurant had fantastic burritos and she was right. We ordered a chicken burrito and it was so big it filled both of us up. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. Can't wait to go back for a Cuban sandwich or an empanada or chorizo taco. Their menu has something for everyone. They serve beer and wine and sangria!!
Love this place! The decor is beautiful and the food is amazing! I recommend the Cuban Carnitas bowl, Aqua Chile, and the yucca fries 10/10 for all! I'm a regular here and can't recommend this restaurant enough! Enjoy!
I really really wanted to like it here! Sadly, my order was just not it. Walking in, i was shocked to see it so empty on a Thursday night considering they offer drinks and beer on tap etc. there was no AC, and the poor staff were all so hot fanning themselves. I ordered the mango avocado tostada with shrimp to-go. The moment I got it in my car, something just did not smell right. Once home I opened my order and the shrimp smelled old and fishy and were super hard : I really really hope they are successful because it would be awesome to have a cool margarita spot with good food at LBX but I have to say it was just such a sad experience. Wishing them the very best and hopefully I will be back to try again!
