What Hannah F doesn't like about Moon Mountain Coffee:
Stopped by here for coffee on a whim while attending the Long Beach car show. The exterior was cute and the name was neat as well. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was really hoping for the best but was unfortunately sorely disappointed by the quality of the coffee here. I tried a tres leche iced latte and my husband got a cold brew with vanilla. Both drinks were super watered down and did not have great flavor.... View all feedback.
This place has been on our want to try list since they sell bags at a local farmers market. We were in the area so we figured we finally try it! We specifically went for the vegan viet coffee and were a bit disappointed. The coffee came out of the tap which wasn't an issue, but we were expecting it to be creamy and light with coconut condensed milk, similar to regular Viet coffee. Rather it was just sweetened black coffee, which it wasn't bad but just wasn't what we expected. We'd like to come back and try the other drinks, but wouldn't try the Vietnamese coffee here again. Service was quick their drinks come out if tap so they just need to pour it and the person taking our order was friendly. It was more of a grab and go so we didn't get the full vibes but super casual. There's only coin machine street parking (first 15 minutes free enough time to grab and go) so definitely park where you can and take the little walk.
Decided to try this place out on a whim and got three drinks for my MIL, partner, and myself. It's a quaint shop in the heart of Belmont Shore, and I have to say the service here is impeccable. Why three stars then? None of us liked the drinks we ordered and ended up heading back to the counter to get a refund. Usually I never ask for refunds or return drinks/food, but we just really did not enjoy them and we knew we weren't going to drink them. Regardless of this, the customer service we received was outstanding! With no hesitation our drinks were refunded. I wanted to love the drinks we got as they looked delicious, but unfortunately they weren't for us. Regardless, situations like these are what make businesses stand out! Even though the drinks weren't enjoyed, the customer service was great and outstanding.
The coffee here is excellent. They grow the beans themselves in Costa Rica. Its really delicious and the staff and owner are great people!
Coffee: 7/10Food: 8/10Service: 8/10Ambiance: 9/10This is a lovely coffee shop that's a nice alternative when Philz is too busy or packed. We ordered the tres leches Mexican-style latte and the Vietnamese latte. Neither was the best I've had, but they're good. They're also very well-priced. Unfortunately, the tres leches had too much syrup in it that left a strange aftertaste. The syrup in the Vietnamese latte had a strange taste as well. I would love the coffee more if they used fresher ingredients instead of syrup and added some spices. I also ordered a ham and cheese croissant that was delectable! My only issue with the service was that it was a tad slow because there was only one worker. But he was so pleasant and apologetic, I didn't mind the wait. It's a cozy, spacious space with ample seating and outlets. Definitely, a great location for remote workers to put in some hours during the day. The gorgeous murals and photos of Costa Rica help this place feel like a mini vacation too.
There are many many options ok second street for coffee, but this one is my FAVORITE.
