Its been a long time since I have had a meal that blew me away like the dinner I had tonight at The Tavern. After being a chef for 20+ years finding hidden gems in small towns are my favorite. From the stuffed mushrooms and escargot, to the prime rib and blue cheese filet medallions me and my group were blow away. The peanut butter chocolate bomb is a must for dessert. View all feedback.
What Phyllis Price doesn't like about The Tavern In Ab:
Altho I've dined at The Tavern on previous visits to Abingdon and been pleased with everything, my last experience was completely unsatisfactory. Although it was a slow night, I had reservations, and the hostess seated me quickly, the waitress refused to even look at me, much less bring water or take my order. After waiting 20 minutes without any attention, I left. Being ignored by waitstaff is an issue I haven't fac... View all feedback.
My wife and I went to the Tavern for our Anniversary and expected at least good service considering the price! The waitress was nice enough at first, then was missing to the point that we felt abandoned. After being given our drinks, she never once came back to see if we would like a refill or another drink. I was right at the point of going down myself to get another drink for us at the bar before she finally returned, totally unapologetic and uninterested. Same thing with the meal, never returned to see how things were going until we were finished. I would not have written this review if the Jambalaya I ordered had not been so spicy hot that I could not finish it, and I love spicy food! My wife's Brussel Sprouts were very tough and under cooked. We are very tolerate people, but felt like we paid a very high price at the Tavern and did not get our money's worth!
Loved this place, great environment and wonderful staff!
Great place! I had the Biscuits and Gravy with a side of sausage, my wife had the Ham and Cheese Omelette and both dishes were spectacular. Best brunch we have ever had.
Outstanding! Absolutely outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. Everything we have had was beautifully prepared and presented. We have our favorite server here now, but all staff have been friendly and attentive. Love the history of the building and atmosphere. Very special dining experience.
We stopped through for dinner on a road trip. AMAZING. The patio is so cute and comfy. We started with the French onion soup (my husband said its the best he's ever had). We split the duck and the bacon wrapped scallops. Both were incredible. We waited about 25 minutes because we didn't have a reservation, but the service was great. We wish we lived closer.
