Atmosphere was very nice and the staff attentive, helpful and welcoming. I found the ceviche appetizer a bit odd and not as flavourful as I would have liked. The fried oysters were very nice; love oysters... The clam strips had a bit of a bitter taste in the but they were nicely tender. The jambalaya was tasty. View all feedback.
What Kari Tromp doesn't like about Bourbon Street - Cajun & Creole Kitchen:
Two for dinner at 530pm on a Thursday night. First ones in the restaurant, followed by 8 other tables by 630pm. One waiter covering the room. Scallop gazpacho was a salad, not a soup. Scallops we're chilled flavourless balls. Corn fritters were excellent. Catfish Meurniere was covered with walnuts for some reason? all served with spring seasonal veggies (carrots, broccoli and zucchini)...not seasonal at all? Fried ch... View all feedback.
This place is very easily missed, but it's well worth a visit. I went past it a hundred times and didn't even notice it. Not any more! The food that I've had has always been delicious, and I've tried several different dishes. The staff is very friendly as well. The prices are getting up there, but not through the roof. One or two Saturday evenings each month they have live music from 7:00 - 10:00 (closing time). I know because I play in a band that has been there. I recommend Bourbon Street, not because I entertain there from time to time, but because it's a really good restaurant!
We wanted something different for a family event, and Bourbon Street fit the bill. Ample parking out back. Restaurant larger than expected, clean and newly renovated. Prompt greeting on arrival, menus and drinks shortly after. Since we were planning on big entrées, we skipped appetizers, but might be tempted next time. Two of us had the "Taste of N'awlins Platter", a sizable, well-presented mix of scallops, fried oysters, crawfish, crawfish étoufee and catfish fillet. We inquired if the food was spicy, in this case was told it was mild. A bottle of Cholula on the table added a bit of needed zing without overpowering the food. Other diner had Southern Fried Chicken Lafayette. Nice, crispy piece of chicken on tasty mashed potatoes and gravy. Despite the big entrées, we splurged for desserts. All thought the chocolate pecan tortes and apple spice cake were better than usual fare elsewhere. Pleasant, efficient service topped off a fine celebration. Well done!
I have visited this restaurant several times and the food is incredible. My favorite dish to order is the jambalaya, which is absolutely unbelievable.
My family brought me here for Father's Day breakfast and I was eager to check this place out. The decor impressed me though it was a little sterile for resembling New Orleans, but I get it and I was happy. Our server was quick and efficient...and especially friendly to us. I was surprised because a lot of reviews say that the service here isn't top notch. We didn't find that to be the case. Our drinks were delivered quickly and our order when in instantly. My babies got to sit at the bar to watch the Chef cook our breakfast, which thrilled them. Our food was pleasant to the eye and you could see care was taken in the plating. The flavours were quite tasty but I will say that even though the Shrimp Creole was delicious, the liquid did make the Crab Cakes a tad soggy. Maybe make the Crab Cakes a bit bigger. For an instant, I felt like I was walking down Bourbon Street in New Orleans...briefly. One of my all-time fav places to visit.Would I come back here? Yes. I look forward to tasting their lunch or dinner menu. The menus look amazing but I discovered one thing missing. Fried Green Tomatoes. A staple in New Orleans!
Had a pleasant dinner with a friend on a Friday night. I was surprised that it wasn't very crowded, but the restaurant is spacious with a lovely open kitchen.
