Had been recommended Saffron and as seafood lovers booked for our anniversary. The Nepalese menu offers many dishes you don’t get elsewhere especially fish and the tastes are delicious. A small restaurant with very attentive staff, tasty and different and will definitely be returning View all feedback.
What Michael Edwards doesn't like about The Saffron:
on the annual Hindu festival of diwali it is common to gather with the family and enjoy a firm of delicious Indian food. but this year diwali fell on a weekday when I accidentally worked late and beyond, let's be honest, I'm not a qualified Indian cook. so not in the position to make a big family celebration, I took nabeby instead and sister and went into a Nepalese and Indian restaurant. I discovered this restaurant while out walking and searching for a takeaway. The staff were extremely friendly and even served me a pint while I waited for my food. The meal was exceptional, with delicious and fresh garlic-infused lamb that was tender and full of flavor. The lamb samosas for starters were filled with generous amounts of meat. I also enjoyed the lamb sag paneer dansak with garlic rice, garlic pash, and coriander naan. Overall, a job well done by the restaurant staff. We left as very satisfied customers.
I had a very disappointing meal here tonight the Meat Thali was bland, tasteless and the chicken and lamb curries tasted exactly the same! the Raita was thick and cloying and the Dhal, no better than a poor street takeaway, the difference being that I was charged £14.95! Avoid this place there so many better places to enjoy Indian food cooked with taste, imagination and flair....
One of the best curries I have ever eaten! So much better than the usual standard menus that a lot of restaurants have. Can’t go wrong with Nepali food in my experience mind. We only had vegi so can’t comment on the meat choices but the Thali was amazing. We had ours spiced up. Dumplings for starters shouldn’t be missed either. Fab!
What a pleasure to enjoy the food at Saffron Club. Dishes made from scratch which really shows with the flavours. Our favourite curry house in Blackheath (Taste of Raj a close second). P.S under new mgmt in 2020 so please disregard earlier poor reviews.
