While some guests praised the exceptional food, tea quality, and friendly staff during their delightful Afternoon Tea, others faced disappointments like long waiting times, uncomfortable seating conditions in a chilly conservatory, and miscommunication around Groupon vouchers. Despite these challenges, the attentive waiting staff and delicious, value-for-money food left a positive impression on diners, with the location near Hyde Park and Oxford Street being a bonus. With improvements in service timing, seating comfort, and voucher booking procedures, The Brasserie could become a top choice for those seeking a cozy dining experience near London's popular attractions.
Our evening got off to a rough start as our reservation was lost and the staff seemed unaware of our request for a top table. After some initial confusion, we were eventually seated and received good service. The menu at Olio's was a mix of brasserie and Malaysian cuisine, and we had chosen the restaurant specifically for the Malaysian dishes. Unfortunately, many items on the Malaysian menu were unavailable, including spring rolls, chicken satay, their recommended curried chicken, curried lamb, and more. Due to my shellfish allergy, I was limited to fried chicken wings for a starter and lentil curry or beef curry for mains. The fried chicken wings were greasy and the rice was dry, but the beef curry was enjoyable. We decided to skip dessert.
My partner and I dined at this restaurant while staying at the Hotel for one night. The front of house staff were efficient and friendly, but the kitchen organization was lacking. We ordered starters and main courses, but there were some mix-ups with our orders. After receiving an apology, we enjoyed our tasty starters. However, there was a long wait for our main courses, and only one arrived initially. We sent it back to have both dishes together, which took another 5 minutes. The manager apologized and offered us complimentary wine and coffee as compensation. The Malaysian main courses we had were excellent, though it was disappointing that the sides were considered as extras.
The food was frozen, the white wine was warm, and the service was terrible. I do not recommend dining at this restaurant.
Dining area is very small, toilets are not of high standards, food is overpriced butter was served instead of buttercream; cakes were stale and dry; where were the macaroons? I have to say, the lychee tea was wonderful but the colour of the teapot was disgraceful. I'd give the place a star rating
While visiting London for the first time we knew we had to have Afternoon Tea. We chose The Brasserie for its proximity to Hyde Park and Kensington Palace, our destinations for the day. We had a lovely Afternoon Tea experience! The food was exceptional, tea was steaming, and the staff was so friendly. We couldn’t have asked for a better time
