Shikumen Luxe Aldgate - London

The first course arrived promptly, but it was a significant disappointment. We ordered half a duck and pancakes, expecting a reasonable portion, but what we received was the tiniest serving imaginable. It bore no resemblance to the half duck we usually enjoy at other restaurants. What we had was dry, bland, and not worth the £30 price tag. To make matters worse, our main courses were served before they had cleared away the plates from our first course, leaving us with no space on the table for the entrees. We had to literally request that they clean the table so we could fit the main dishes. The restaurant was quite empty, and it felt like they wanted us to leave as quickly as possible so they could close up. When we voiced our concerns about the food and service, the staff laughed at us, which was incredibly unprofessional. It's no wonder the restaurant was so empty. Located in the Dorsett Hotel in a busy area of London, none of the six of us plan to return. Although we had considered staying at the hotel on our next trip due to its affordability, this experience has ensured that we will not be returning, as it poorly reflects on the hotel’s overall reputation.

The restaurant is clean and the staff is attentive. The food was delicious, and the decor and ambiance were great. My meal arrived quickly and was truly tasty. I enjoyed a Tiger beer with my meal, which made for a wonderful dining experience.

We had dinner there and ordered the Peking duck, Iberico pork, golden shrimp, and Mongolian lamb ribs. Everything was delicious!
