I have loved this place. managed to sneak the last table they really need to book and we were glad to have done this, it is really popular and the place is very small. the back has izakaya style bank essecke and then there are about 8 tables of two in the main area. we had the chicken catsudon, gyudon, lachs teriyaki and oldashi tofu. the quality was great and it is not too expensive for Japanese foods. they get a go... What User doesn't like about Machiya:
the eating was average, the teppan was above all boiled and the gyudon was not so great. the aubergine was good and the chickens were hit or mis. as regards desserts, they were pretty good, but not very valuable. the service was not great for us as we had to call someone for everything, including getting water. We had a table reserved for 6:00 PM, but we were running a bit late. The restaurant was very accommodating and let us push our reservation to 6:30 PM. The service was excellent, and the food was simply amazing. I ordered the teriyaki salmon, and honestly, it was the best salmon I've ever had—no exaggeration! The portions were a bit small for my liking, but that didn't detract from the experience at all. This place is definitely a must-visit! 10/10!

Table was booked 18:00 and we were a little behind schedule. they were very accommodating by moving the booking to 18:30. the service was great. that's amazing. I had the teriyaki laughs. I don't even exaggerate, it was the best laugh I ever had. the portions were a little bit small for me, but that is no negative thing at all. in any case one must visit! 10/10
I visited this restaurant primarily for their green tea desserts. As for the main courses, I was hoping they wouldn't be available, so I ended up ordering something I wasn't particularly excited about and that was inexpensive, since it wasn't my first or second choice. Fortunately, the green tea desserts saved the day, along with the delightful service.
This quaint restaurant may be small, but they excel with their limited menu. The fried chicken is wonderfully crispy, while the unajuu (eel on rice) is flavorful, though it comes in at a slightly high price of £20. The bark udon in a light broth is both delicious and refreshing.
