What Jewel S doesn't like about Il Boteglio Restaurant:
Place was small but had charm. We had an early dinner, 6:00 p.m., and were surprised to see one of the kitchen staff and serving staff eating their meal too in the dining area a few tables away from us. Food was OK, nothing special. Found the price a bit expensive for what it was. Also one of those places where they add the 10% Optional Service Charge to your bill. View all feedback. What Dorottya Gáspár likes about Il Boteglio Restaurant:
I needed a reasonably priced quality restaurant near the Barbican for a business group. It was a spot on choice and, for other business meetings, or if I am in the area with my wife, it will be my first option. View all feedback.

The first thing that struck me about Il Boteglio was that it was crying out for an intervention from Gordon Ramsey.
I had a very bizarre experience hereI dropped in for an early dinner and my server asked if I wanted breadI said yes.

read moreIl Boteglio offers a mix of experiences for diners, with varying opinions on the overall dining experience. The restaurant features a charming but simple atmosphere, with a traditional look from the outside and fast, authentic service once inside. Some patrons found the food to be average and overpriced, while others enjoyed dishes such as perfectly cooked steak and excellent lobster risotto. The service was generally praised for being attentive but not intrusive, creating a pleasant dining experience. Despite some minor disappointments in dishes like whitebait and asparagus, the seafood linguine stood out as a highlight. The restaurant also accommodates special requests, such as gluten-free pasta options. Overall, Il Boteglio seems to cater to a range of tastes and occasions, from casual dining to pre-theatre visits, making it a versatile choice for those in the Farringdon/Barbican area.
Were made to feel very welcome and we had a very enjoyable evening thanks
The food is excellent, the staff is friendly, and the service is top-notch.
Good quality Italian food at a good price. Set lunch menu at £12 was especially good value.
