What elsiebee likes about El Gaucho:
A cosy tucked away restaurant in South Kensington. Excellent Argentinian steaks and Malbec which we are unable to track down to buy over here. Very pleasant service and nice decor we particularly liked the space saving idea of using the beams as a wine rack! Would certainly recommend to anyone visiting Natural History Museum or Royal Albert Hall. View all feedback. What JulieO doesn't like about El Gaucho:
Great location but unfortunately that is all I can say was really great. The tables are to near each other and overall we just felt it was to claustrophobic. My steak was lovely but expensive for what it was and the burger my husband had a piece of gristle in which to me does not scream quality meat. View all feedback.

The spare ribs are not expensive and quite large but the quality of the ribs is pretty low.
The beef Napolitana Milanesa was absolutely amazing! My husband ordered the Bife Angosto and even though he liked it, he wished he had gotten something
Overall, I was hoping for more. We showed up at 6:30 after a busy tourism day.

read moreThe restaurant, located in a quirky basement, offers a nice piece of meat in a city where it's hard to find a decent steak. While the service is excellent, the wine options are limited and non-meat options are standard. Despite being a bit cramped and lacking in exceptional service, the location is cozy and unique. The steaks are the highlight, with authentic Argentinian flavors and excellent preparation. The menu is primarily meat-focused, with delicious starters and sides. The staff is friendly and helpful, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, it's a good option for steak lovers and a great pre-dinner spot before events at The Royal Albert Hall. Though prices are a bit high, the quality of the meat and overall experience make it worth a visit for carnivores craving a tasty steak.

Very good first impression on this first visit to El Gaucho; both the food and the service were excellent.
