A cosy tucked away restaurant in South Kensington. Excellent Argentinian steaks and Malbec which we are unable to track down to buy over here. Very pleasant service and nice decor we particularly liked the space saving idea of using the beams as a wine rack! Would certainly recommend to anyone visiting Natural History Museum or Royal Albert Hall. View all feedback.
What JulieO doesn't like about El Gaucho:
Great location but unfortunately that is all I can say was really great. The tables are to near each other and overall we just felt it was to claustrophobic. My steak was lovely but expensive for what it was and the burger my husband had a piece of gristle in which to me does not scream quality meat. View all feedback.
I would like to say that this was a review of a visit to the restaurant but after booking it as a treat for my wife on New Year's Eve we arrived in London after travelling for 1.5 hours to find it shut. I made a complaint to Open Table as they had confirmed the booking, twice, but they wanted to leave the blame with El Gaucho for not telling them. I wrote directly to the Director of the company that runs both restaurants but he could not be bothered to reply. Open Table's apology amounted to making my points up to enough for £20 off my next booking. Very disappointing all round.
Over cook meals, slow attendance and hiper-warn ambience....
Weren't aware of booking as hadn't checked computer. Food was nice but waitress sweeping up whilst I was eating and more interested in her hair looking good
Very good first impression on this first visit to El Gaucho; both the food and the service were excellent.
I was so looking forward to a good parrillada , but I was really disappointed with El Gaucho. The stakes were not good at all, nothing like the famous tender Argentinian beef stake. The price was too high compared to the poor quality of the food!
