If the black box isn’t part of the experience, why advertise it? I didn’t see a single black box during my visit—did I miss something? Secondly, the coffee they use is far too light for espresso; it’s nowhere near as dark as their marketing suggests. Thirdly, the Australian barista smelled strongly of tequila at midday on a Sunday. I’m all for people overcoming addiction, but it’s unpleasant when they cough without freshening their breath—though maybe the mouthwash used contains alcohol too. Fourthly, I don’t quite understand all the hype. There’s too much focus on coffee for my taste and not enough attention to croissants, pastries, or boxed French cheeses, all of which are scarce on Druid Street. Other than these points, no complaints—5 stars.
