Contribute FeedbackHolmes Hotel offers a beautiful environment with champagner, although some found the scones bland and the cakes overly sweet. Sherlock's Bar Grill provided a quiet atmosphere and decent food, but lacked innovation. Tea service was slow and disappointing. However, visitors praised the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Overall, guests appreciated the discounted meal options and attentive service, with some highlighting the private and quiet setting at "Kitchen at Holmes." One reviewer had a positive experience for a 50th birthday celebration, citing accommodating staff and excellent waiter service.
Our dining experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. Despite being one of only two occupied tables, it took nearly an hour to place our order for a group of 4. When our main dishes finally arrived, one order was incorrect - a burger that was supposed to be without cheese had cheese on it. After the chef scraped off the cheese and sent it back out, we realized that the individual had a cheese allergy and had to send it back again for a new burger to be prepared. By the time the correct burger arrived, the rest of us had already finished our meals. We were not offered any discount or compensation for this mistake. The food was mediocre and overpriced, with a total of approximately £130 spent on 4 burgers and a drink each. We would not recommend this restaurant and do not plan on returning.
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with a view of the kitchen and cozy seating. While the menu may not be extensive, the food is excellent quality. The server was incredibly attentive and helpful.
I recently had lunch at Sherlock's Bar Grill and found it to be average. The restaurant was quite quiet during our visit on a weekday. The food was decent, although the rib-eye steak I ordered was a bit fatty and tough. Nonetheless, it was cooked well on the charcoal grill, which added to the flavor. They charged extra for side dishes, but they were generous portions and good value. The service was reasonably attentive, but with only four other diners in the restaurant, it should have been. Overall, I was somewhat disappointed and likely wouldn't return, as there are many other dining options in the area that offer superior food and ambiance.
I highly highly recommend ye olde Cheshire cheese for anyone who likes a pub and history.
If History and experiencing a friendly and classic London Pub is on your "to do" list This is a must stop.
