Rated 4stars for one reason — If you have a plant based, vegan or vegetarian diet there are limited options at Alter Brewery. As a vegetarian my options are a pretzel with cheese, salads and French fries. Plant based options on the menu such as a veggie burger/impossible burger for example would be a welcome addition and give me more reasons to return to eat. I have been to Alter many times always had a good experience. This evening, however, they proved that their management is incompetent does NOT care about their guests. We were seated directly in front of this massive indoor heater which was constantly pumping out 80° air — it was so hot that the party at the next table over commented on it. Excellent beers, friendly service. The roasted bang bang cauliflower was perfect with the summer ale. Definitely worth a stop when you’re in St. Charles IL.
The food was absolutely amazing! My husband had the pub burger and I had the chicken pesto. Both super delicious! Beers were so so. Kitchen was slow but our server was awesome and extremely attentive.

My Pesto Chicken sandwich was phenomenal. Drinks were great. Loved the ambiance there. I will be back. We had a great time there with friends
