our family usually visits the south side on Sundays when the bakery is closed, but if we go on a Saturday, I like to dive and grab something. their matcha and cranberry mochi brot are the best! View all feedback.
What Cory Stehr doesn't like about Juno Bakery & Cafe:
A total rip off! We ordered a cake named chocolate ferrero for a family member's birthday. It was $56 for an 8 inch cake which I was okay about it if it was amazing. It turned out to be such a normal cake that has nothing that you can relate to with Ferrero. It was some chocolate ganache inside sandwiched by sponge cakes and lots of cream, no one could finish one small piece and everyone was sweet lovers. A normal 8... View all feedback.
I've been on a bit of a reviewing vacay. I have still been eating and enjoying food but I have not bothered to write a review on anything for some time. Having had a baby a few months ago things have been a little hectic and I wasn't sure if I would bother with the reviewing anymore. Also, going out for dinner is nigh impossible when your baby sleeps at 6pm, that said the mum crowd is what keeps the cafes going during the work week so you may see a new trend in my reviews. So here we are: my first review in around six months. My Korean friend brought around a selection of cream puffs (no idea what they are called by the bakery) but they are basically perfect profiteroles. I am not a profiterole person so I was not really looking forward to these, but let me say, they proved to be little pastry blobs from heaven. I sampled the plain custard one, the chocolate and the matcha. The matcha was my favourite, the matcha flavouring very subtle. Just try not to inhale the sprinkles on top while stuffing one of these bad boys into your face. The pastry is so light and melts in your mouth and the filling is creamy without being heavy. She also brought around a plain looking oval cake with a Juno bakery stamp on it. I thought this would be some spongey boring cake, but Heeeeellll no. I was super surprised by the creaminess of it. I think it may be the ultimate cheesecake, super fluffy with no heaviness, iI would liken it to the beautiful love child of a cheesecake and a sponge cake. So thank you Juno bakery, your amazing treats have brought me back from the reviewing dead.

As we walk out of Lok Fok after a satisfying BBQ roast duck lunch we walk past Juno Bakery and I recall the review by S.K and Boston Pies! The Taiwanese owner informs me they are sold out so I wander around admiring the savoury buns, sweet buns and cakes. I eventually decide on a Cheese & Pork Floss Slice ($2.80) and an Oreo Chocolate Bun ($5.50). Afternoon tea with my partner at 4.30pm and the Cheese & Pork Floss Slice is fresh and soft with cheese kneaded into the bread base. The pork floss complements the bread and cheese perfectly. At $2.80 it is great value! I gift the Oreo Chocolate Bun to my sister who says it was freshly baked and delicious. This tiny bakery is now a gem for my family. Thank you and well done Juno Bakery!
Of the plethora of Asian bakeries in the area I tried this one most recently. It has a neat little setup. I think it was a cash only spot. They are reluctant to speak in English. Ambience: not somewhere you really feel like sitting and taking a moment - it's in the middle of an echoey shipping mall. I got takeaway. Food: whilst visually appealing, I found the pastries that I tried to be bland and leaving in texture and taste; however, the Japanese cheesecake did have a lovely fluffy texture. Service: overall friendly but a little slow. Verdict: it's nothing special. Would be good if you just need something to chew on.
I bought couple of bread to be eaten during our trip to byron bay. Typical asian bread with their soft fluffly texture but of course here in australia they will make the breads bigger in size compare in Asia itself.
