What Grace Koch doesn't like about Cotham's In The City:
The food was simply deep-fried and looked like it had been dumped on the plate. It tasted as if it came straight from a bag. Unfortunately, the prices suggested otherwise. We waited around 30 minutes, and there was only one area for waiting, which meant we had to stand by the door. The waitress was very friendly, but clearly overwhelmed with work. The waiting staff is amazing! So attentive and fast. I have a 1/2 hamburger steak and I think it was a problem with the fat and a grill that was badly needed. The brown engraving and the steak were exactly the same. Like old fat. I think this happens now and then when a place remains as busy as it is. The potatoes were great! The chicken pliers were amazing! Perfect and juicy baked. I love her! The atmosphere is not for me, for political reasons...
I've been here 4 times so far. The 1st time was for the fried chicken which I had heard good things about. It was ok but not earth-shattering. On subsequent visits I had the chicken fried steak and also the standard burger. Both were pretty good and the sides were tasty. They came with jalapeño cornbread (fries came with the burger) which was decent as well. Overall it's a good lunch spot with great service and reasonable prices.
Cotham?s In the City was great!! The fried jalapeños were a great way to start. We split the famous Hubcap Hamburger! It was massive. It was everything a burger should be.
What can you say about this place other than it Is THE PLACE for lunch! In sight of the State Capitol dome, you 'll be rubbing shoulders with the HUNGRY here. State lawmakers, law officers, and the public, enjoy the food here large portions and really good. These are the famous Hubcap Hamburger steaks and sides. Huge. Don 't miss this place.
